Description Here we have the Wild Kratts researching on Africa’s second biggest killer: Carchardontosaurus.

Carchardontosaurus was as big as T. Rex or even a little bigger. It was a distant cousin to Allosaurus but way bigger.

One of the most characteristic features of Carchardontosaurus was its teeth. Serrated and knife-like, and 8 inches long. But the skull was relatively weak compared to T. Rex bite, and wouldn’t hold onto struggling prey. And it’s it’s was believed to be 3,000 PSI.

The teeth would also shatter if they struck bone. But the tooth design showed that they were similar serrations like those of sharks, Carchardontosaurus in fact, means, Shark-tooth Lizard.

The most likely method was that Carchardontosaurus may have bitten its victim and slashed deep into the skin, causing massive injury and blood loss. And like sharks, after the initial attack, would back down and wait for the victim to collapse.

An affective way for Carchardontosaurus to be a deadly hunter and kill without having to spend too much energy at once.

Carchardontosaurus lived in North Africa at the same region and time as Spinosaurus. But under normal conditions, they left each other alone and coexisted. But during times of hardship like in a drought, they could be put into direct competition with each other.

In a fight, Spinosaurus has size and power. Carchardontosaurus has the more lethal bite.

One example was a Spinosaurus vertebra recovered in 2008 was found with the tall neural spine broken off. Suggested that the wound was inflicted by Carchardontosaurus.
