Description Here we have the Wild Kratts looking up a bizarre dinosaur called Gigantoraptor.

Gigantoraptor was discovered in Mongolia at 2007, by accident when a documentary was being made, and they didn’t want the discovery to be live. And soon the bones were studied, at first they thought it was a Sauropod, but soon found to be something else.

Something that truly shocked scientists.

The bones were found to be those of an Oviraptorid. These dinosaurs are normally small, but this Oviraptorid was a monster compared to other. And it was named Gigantoraptor.

26 feet long and 1.5 tons, Gigantoraptor without a doubt is the biggest of its kind. Making it 35 times bigger than it’s other relatives. And surprisingly the bones of the individual showed it was still growing, being 11 years old when it died. An adult could have been 30 or more feet in length, and weighed 2 tons.

It was “like finding a mouse the size of a cow”.

We don’t know for sure if a dinosaur as big as Gigantoraptor would have/need feathers. But if it was anything like its other smaller cousins, Gigantoraptor could have feathers, mostly on the wrists and tails. If true, Gigantoraptor could have been the largest animal ever known with feathers.

But instead for flight, Gigantoraptor had feathers for display and to attract mates.

Gigantoraptor was truly a bizarre but amazing dinosaur.
