Oh, you don't Oh well. I guess that when you do the incense pics, you can't enhance the saturation... but that doesn't matter. They still look great. Filters do wonders for contrast and mood. For example, if you like taking pictures of skies, use a red filter and it makes the blue darker int he sky and the clouds contrast it much better.

Beautiful colors. The filter you used makes the branches look almost painted on. Or like that Japanese art of blowing ink across a piece of paper.

That is a great compliment. It just made things darker really.

Yeah, but the darkness almost gives it a dream like state (along with the color scheme). I almost expect the branches to still be growing and weaving, like the ink is still spreading across the paper.

You're very welcome. I'm definitely a fan of your work. It's nice to see someone who appreciates nature as much as you seem to.

Yeah. I know the feeling. I spent about half of my childhood in the woods too.

I always find it funny when people who don't know anything about nature move into it and get scared of it. They see at night that it is dark and imagine wierdoes sneaking up on them, never quite grasping that there are no wierdoes because there is no one else at all. I always find the woods a place of peace and beauty.

Yeah. That's really strange. I work out in the woods, and a few people on my crew are terrified of cougars, bears, etc. They don't even like working alone out in the woods. AND the funny part is, I'm not afraid, but I'm the one that was stalked by a cougar earlier this year and had to chase of bears with a broom when I was a kid.
I'm far more afraid walking around the city than I am walking around the woods.

If you know how to respond properly, neither is really a threat. Cougars are like cats... if you make a sudden movement and sound, making yourself seem suddenly to grow in presence, you will spook them and they will run from the ting they do not understand. All big cats are like that actually. Bears are the exact opposite. Don't startle them and they will leave you alone (unless there is a baby around in both cases).
I don't like the city either.

I've done the research before. I guess only 10 people have been killed by cougars in the last 100 years. Makes me laugh when people in Oregon freak out so bad about not being able to hunt them with dogs anymore. Like our towns are going to be overrun with big cats. When I noticed the cougar following me I mostly just screamed a whole bunch of curse words and made my way back to my work truck.
Startling bears has always worked pretty well for me actually. Always with black bears though. I wouldn't try to startle a grizzly for a million dollars.

haha. That seems to be the way it goes. Sadly I've only seen one bear this year, and that was just it's fat butt disappearing into the trees.
Coolest wild animal experience I've ever had was seeing a jaguar down in Ecuador. THAT was a thrill. Luckily I was safely in a canoe.
Argh. The worst is the fact that A LOT of people still hunt cougars with dogs here in Eastern Oregon. Just last winter I was up in the mountains and saw some really fresh cougar tracks and not long after that a bloodhound with a radio collar came running along the same path barking up a storm. Lazy shit-eating hunters were probably just sitting in their car staring at a screen waiting for the blip to stop moving. Real sportsman-like (sarcasm). I apologize for the cursing too. Apparently when cougars are involved I can't control it.

OH! Whoops. Sorry. I should have been a little more clear. It's not quite THAT bad. The dogs usually chase the cats up a tree and stand at the base barking up at them. Then that's when the blip stops moving. It stands to reason that the dogs get hurt occasionally though.
