This one was going to be just a quick practice and I wasn't even going to finish it but I decided to see it through.For those of you who do not recognize her, this is Utada Hikaru. she is one of the most popular female singers in japan for years and I love her music.
I have always admired this photo of her from her album Ultra Blue and thought it would look great as a charcoal. Sorry about the grainy quality, my scanner is being stubborn. Done in charcoal pencils. enjoy!

And yes, Utada did the theme song for that movie as well as the themes for Kingdom Hearts I and II. I recommend listening to some of her work. She sings in both Japanese and english and her voice is very pure. Currently I believe she is on hiatus for personal reasons but hopefully she will make a comeback again. My favorite songs of hers are "Passion" (English version: Sanctuary) and "Hikari" (English version: Simple and Clean)

This is amazing! Charcoal is very difficult (or lat least to me it is) to work with because its so easy to smear it, but you really pushed your values. I love Utada Hikaru too; she's got an awesome voice.

What's really sad is that the pencil gave me just as much trouble! XD The damn thing just kept breaking every single time I sharpened it! *coughcursedcough* When I eventually got the pencil sharpened and was able to use it, it was a lot easier to use than the charcoal, but still I'll take paint over it any day...XD And your most welcome; you're very talented and your work deserved some praise

They do break really easily. I have sharpened down my pencils to almost nothing just to get a point again.
