Let's just say this was split between Physics and English if you get my drift... and maybe a few other classes.
Handy dandy watercolor sets c;
Heres is actually very out of character here XD He's not snarky or sassy as he might seem here. And for sure doesn't float in midair.. lol
But I just wanted to draw something haha! So yeah here he is! I used tea since I didn't have water with me. XD One brush. Size 1 I would think.
Not much to say, just a doodle from my sketchbook.

Medium: Canson Multimedia 98lb sketchbook paper 9" x 12" inches, Winsor & Newton Cotman watercolors & brush, Mechanical Pencil Total Time: 1-2 hours (Kind of took my time and split it into a few sessions and days)

Oh man, Capu, that's all sorts of amazing... It's been a while since I commented on your stuff, but I see that you've been doing more traditional stuff. I think that's great, and it cheers me up everytime I see one of your works in my messages. There's nothing for me to critique here really; it's prettymuch perfection in my eyes. Maybe just brighten it up a little? But seriously, I think you've improved so much in the past few months that there's nothing I can find. Well done.
I have a little question though, if you've got the time. On Heres' neck/mane area, could you explain briefly how you get the fur to stick out and pop like that? Is it some masterful way of shading or just defined with pencil? I've been working at it for a little while, and you seem to have mastered it, so I was just wondering; it seems really difficult to do in watercolours.

Ah the colors are a bit off as a product of bad photoedtting and not-so-great camera XD so that might be why but idk!

Mm yes. I wouldn't say I've mastered anything for real yet hehe! But ah a combination of penciling and painting I would say. At least in the style I've developed!
Minimalistic shading is key for making things pop out in quick sketches or drawings in general.. You don't want to focus on the details, so just make sure you have the basic values down. I penciled in the chunks of fur I wanted and just added dark values along the edges and softening it out where there's supposed to be more light from .. the imaginary light source I suppose (that isn't really well defined here XD haha..oops) But I pretty much just shaded the left side of the front chunks of fur.. if that makes sense. So that they were all shaded the same direction and sort of stuck out.. Meh :/ I'm not too good at explaining in short
