Thanks so much! Hope to finish it up today. Been pretty hard to work on it, with my youngest daughter being so sick.

Wow looks really good already. I think the dark parts should be even darker (like you said above, maybe use graphite) or at least blended better. If you only want to use coloured pencils, going over those areas in different directions should work fine. I don't know how well graphite and coloured pencil interact

Thanks! I think your right. I need to go a little darker. I might just use a Blackie pencil with color pencil. I have blended those two together before with a tombo colorless blender. It worked pretty well and was able to achieve a much darker shade. Derwent's Coloursoft black and Lyra's are very soft blacks. I will try the Prismas black and see how much darker I can get first.

You do that, I'm curious how it will turn out (I would love to say that's a good choice but I have no knowledge of the different brands )

Very interesting!
I would normally start with the main colours first, then leave the black area for last, but you colour in all the black beforehand.

I usually try to do the background first, when working with color pencil. This time I started off with the face, but I didn't finish it, I plan to go back and darken areas up etc. last on the face. So I am doing steps a little different on this piece, than I normally do.
My first time working strictly with just greys and blacks in color pencil. I am half tempted to go back in the background though and use some graphite to get it even darker - not sure yet.
