Charmander Hype!!As I was drawing him, I felt like a terrible person for giving Benji those scars without him getting hurt in any way whatsoever in-game, but he turned out so cute that I remembered why I gave him the scars in the first place - because he looked so pitiful int he most adorable way possible!
How unfortunate, though, that he can only see out of one eye. His depth perception must suck. xI oops

Alex is really racking up a disabled team... and he loves them all to bits, precious baby that he is

I think that says a lot about Alex that he doesn't care about the disabilities. I mean, he does, but he isn't going to treat his disabled Pokemon any differently than his Pokemon without disabilities. Like, he's not gonna hold Travis and Benji back just because they're disabled.
Which shows he's a good kid.
And also that, in my experience, although kids can be friggin mean as hell, they can also be a lot more accepting of things like disabilities/different races/etc than adults tend to be. That is, if the protag of the nuzlocke were an adult, they'd probably let their pity of Travis and Benji get the best of them and just keep the two in the box.

Oddly, the only reason I decided to add him to the team is because, after getting him in-game, I drew a Charmander with scars and thought "Oh god now I need to use him"

I understand you exactly , I have drawn many sketches for pokemon i have caught in my run, and I have chosen ones to be in my team only due to the bias of how I drew them.

Oooh, that's a nice explanation for why Alex would send Zuzu away. Much better than "you're not useful anymore so you get boxed forever," and certainly more in keeping with the overall theme of Dear Mom.
Benji looks so cool in the bottom middle panel, and so adorably confused in the last one. You draw him so well!

Yeah, I was racking my brain trying to figure out why Alex would retire Zuzu, but I couldn't. It wasn't until I was properly scripting the page that I thought "Oh, you know what? Send Zuzu to Mom!"
While I was drawing him I kept thinking "God I'm such a terrible person for horrifically disfiguring this poor little baby for no reason other than he looked so pitiful"
But then I was colouring him and thought "God he looks so cute though, and when he evolves oh god he'll look so badass!"
I love Benji. He's my babby.
