Description
Although this part largely features Alex being sad, it also contains my favourite Gen I Pokemon, so it's okay. Mildly.So in case you missed it, the last part featured the first death of the run, which I referred to as "The Bad Thing." It was awful, and horrendously depressing to draw, but it had to happen. As I mentioned in a reply to one of my comments, it makes for good character development and overall makes the story a LOT more interesting. So although it sucks, it's a good thing that it happened.
Anyway, with this page, we start the arc of Alex healing from that. Or trying to heal, at least.
I don't know about you guys or Alex, but I know a free Eevee would definitely make ME feel better.

(Also, yes, this Benny is the same Benny that Bill had fused with in his first appearance here: harubells.deviantart.com/art/D… . Benny was a baby back then, but he's grown a little now. Hence the now-fluffy neck floof.
Also fun fact, Bill is Alex's cousin. That's why he cares.)

the pain of losing someone is powerful, no matter how old you are. it takes a lot of strength to be able to move on, and even more strength to be the same again.... i wonder if alex will be the same again?

Also, I love how he's such a little kid. i mean, he's mad at first in the top right panel, and then when Benny starts fluffing him he just breaks down and cries. You've really got the kid expressions down pat. (thumbs up)

Children are extremely expressive, aren't they? They're typically extremely open about their emotions. My little brother, for one, can switch from laughing to crying like the flip of a coin.

This is so far the longest stretch between gym badges, so I'm starting to fear that ots running on a bit long.
But at the same time I don't want to cheapen and rush Alex's healing process.

If you're open to reader opinions, I'd say take as much time as needed. This is Alex's story, after all, and I at least I'm interested in all aspects of that story.

That is very true. Alex's story deserves as much time as it needs.
I guess I was just thinking that every arc between gym badges before was five parts or so per badge, so every arc should be that long. But now that we're this far in, the team rocket stuff is starting to pop up, which takes a bit
