Description I was browsing galleries last week and somehow jumped over to a page where I found a succubus I thought was intriguing. So I asked Vaia , the creator/owner of this succbus, Orchid, if I could draw her with my succubus, Serafelle. Happily, she said yes and this is the result. (Its the first time I've drawn Sera since 1996.)

Now, I know many of you out there have taken the more modern approach of a Succubus being a female vampire, but with Sera I took the more traditional view of a succubus being simply a female demon (or demon in female form as I believe form is arbitrary in this case and demons or angels are in actuality sexless spirit beings who, if powerful enough, can take a physical form for a short time. My viewpoint is more Biblical than anything.) And as far as I can tell, Orchid, the other succubus in this picture, while being the Queen of Vampires in her particular storyline, is also not a vampire, but one of the firstborn of the Fallen.

Orchid caught my eye because she is something of a nun now, not given to physical interaction anymore, and I liked that idea. She is regal, aloof, cold and, I think, rather bi-polar. Sera is her complete opposite: she would really like to not be in her position, but is stuck being a whore for Satan and has lost the ability to care. She's pure trailer trash of the highest order now, without a regal bone in her non-body. She /used/ to be an archangel, but after the Fall, Lucifer tweaked and made the last first and the first last, which means all the bigwigs were demoted. The price for not winning The Battle, I guess. So anyway, she's pissy and mean and I seriously doubt these two gals would get along at ALL. But I bribed them with some chocolate and they behaved for the picture.

A colored version will be uploaded shortly. I did not add detail in this pic because I planned on coloring it, so the shadowing detail will be there instead.

Sera's story was partially printed in Oktober Black's "Mosaic issue #2". Just the first ten pages, before the company went under. Having all the rest done, I uploaded it to a site and you can read the entire story online if you wish. It's a measly 43 pages long, so shouldn't take much time. The link for her online comic is here:

EDITS: Thickened Orchid's lead leg a bit. It was too thin at the ankle.

*LOL* That's cuz you have a thing for horns, I think. Which I approve of, completely. *chuckles* Thanks so much for the comments!

Don't think I mentioned it before, but I have a character named Jahi in my gallery... wayyyy deep in the gallery. Zoroastrian demon/goddess who embodies all the evils of females. Cuz we're nasty wicked creatures and everything bad can be blamed on us. *GRINS* I like that idea.

about the name Jahi, i found it in the list of egyptian male names, actually ^_^ i don't know why people constantly tell me it's a female name... maybe in some other language, but it's just that i have a big thing for egyptian style in the first place ^_^

*LOL* Oh no, you're right. The lower half of her body is a wee bit too small. Or thin, actually, I think. The lower part of her arms are a bit small, too. I agree!

Thanks for actually /looking/! I appreciate it that and the comment!!

Very nice! I like your line art and poses(especially for the one on the right!! Very seductive!)! Great inks

I never really thought of a succubus as a female vampire myself. I always took the demon route too.

The one on the left seems to have a bit smaller low body then she should...and watch those feet! lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

chalyss In reply to candiice [2004-11-09 21:17:33 +0000 UTC]

*sighs and nods**Then laughs* Yes, I noticed that about the lower half of the one on the left, too. But, of course, not until I saw a small version of the pic after uploading! I drew this on fairly large-size paper and not at my art table, so the angle wasn't right for me to catch the proportion problems. It /looked/ fine at the time. Dangit, I hate it when that happens! I actually think it's just the legs are a mite too slender. Should be a tad beefier.

My feet are still bad?? *LOL* Oh my gosh and here I thought I was being careful to make sure she had toes. Apparently, I have a real issue with feet. *chuckles* I'll try to be MORE careful in the future. Thanks for pointing it out! *hugs*

And you took the demon route becuse you're cool. *grins* But you know that.

candiice In reply to chalyss [2004-11-10 06:12:43 +0000 UTC]

You don't draw bad feet! The shape, the toes, everything is good! They are just tiny lol All you need to do is enlarge them a bit and they'll be perfect

I'm cool! Hazah for me

Yeah wish I could color it too. LOOOOOVEE the hooved boots.. I'm guessing the one with the boots is Sarafelle????

I have a character SOMEWHAT in Sarafelle's position yet not.. that was that Drucilla character I was telling you about.
(wish I could do humans half as well)

If you wanna color it, feel free! I don't mind at all. *grins* Yes! The one with the boots like cloven hooves is Serafelle, good guess!

You have Drucilla in your gallery? I haven't noticed it... I'm gonna go look again because I KNOW you're better at humans that you give yourself credit for.

No she's not in the gallery, never drawn her but I oughtta draw her next to her poem. Should draw her weeping too because she is the Grieving Angel.

*LOL* Just think of humans as hairless rats or something. *L* All the same rules apply except, of course, there's no fur or anything. And hair is like a horse's mane, more or less.

You'd do fine, hun! I have faith in you!

my understanding of succubi (according to hebrew folklore) was that they were the female offspring of Lillith, Adam's original wife, and the demon Asmodai. They are also referred to as Lilin.

[link] ~Lillith

[link] ~succubi/lilin

Anyway, I digress as I probably just stick to my original intent in saying as usual you have really wowed me I just couldn't help adding my two cents about the other bits... just because I have always had a really keen interest in ancient folklores and mythologies. Probably why I also like sci-fi and fantasy so much

chalyss In reply to Silentshadows [2004-11-09 00:41:04 +0000 UTC]

*L* Depends on which folklore you use. Did you read this part?

[link]

Not a Biblical creation are the Succubi, but my demon version is. I mean, the way I approach demons is more or less Biblically sustained. I DO take a lot of creative license, however. One of the links you sent said that the Lilin were not of Asmodia, but Adam himself.

I am very familiar with the lore of Lilith. She makes for good stories and monsters. *grins*

Thanks for the links, tho! I, too, love mythology and folklore. It's especially good for getting story ideas. Many of my characters are inspired by ancient and usually non-classical mythology.

Silentshadows In reply to chalyss [2004-11-09 01:44:01 +0000 UTC]

*nods* read them, I love that little encyclopedia. sometimes the only draw back is it tends to link everything together a little too much. It's not bad to cross reference them as the folklore and mythology of the various civilisations all influenced each other... but there are some specific differences.

I remember reading about a succubus in the catholic version of the old testament. It was really quite an interesting story. My favourite mythologies are Egyptian and Japanese at the moment... but then I sort of shift from time to time. I just really enjoy it all to be honest.

I think I may enjoy having you to talk to, seems to me that we have some common points of interest.

Oh, I have a great book called "Dictionary of Non Classical Mythology" which is a small little hardback PACKED with info. But it's just a CLiff's notes version, so I find what sounds interesting and go research it more elsewhere. I have gotten SOOO many ideas for names and characters from that thing! I love it!!

Chinese culture has some amazingly rich and complex myths and legends. It would take forever to unravel it all. I also like Eastern Indian/Phoenician mythology and such. Very intricate stuff with literally millions of deities. And I agree.. it's all fascinating stuff!

*grins* Tankee!

Silentshadows In reply to chalyss [2004-11-12 21:36:44 +0000 UTC]

*grins back* welcome.

Japanese mythology is quite interesting as well especially since every once in a while you get it borrowing from the Chinese. Indian mythology... now there's a rich mythos to deal in 330 million gods various incarnations of quite a few of them mythology is just brilliant in my opinion humanity at it's most creative, before it thought it knew everything.
