Description Sparkyyy's February 23rd Speed-paint Landscape Challenge fav.me/d4q5m7c

Really great reference image to work off of. The sky in this reminds me of Jupiter XD looking at the thumbs of this I really completely got the colors wrong and I think I could have pushed the atmospheric distance fog more. Also, still really trying to get texture in my speed paints. think I could have pushed that further as well. overall... really liked this one. was more calming.

2hrs PS CS3

original ref image

Painted this one with and yay more speed paint buddies ^^

Oh! Yours turned out wonderfully! I love all those hatching brush strokes in there, it gives it a lot of texture. I also like how you handled the little house on the hill, even though it doesn't have a lot of detail it still has the overall shape and feeling of the original. Great work! ^^

yeah, I took a note from Marla who just hinted at the fact the house was there as well. Thought that was a nice way to approach it, because really cant focus on those details in the image, you have to get the over all feel of that it was conveying. I think that's sometimes something I forget to do. ^_^ Thank yous!

Very nice, you're right the colours aren't quite right but not too far off and it looks very nice too. I notice too and on everyone elses I've seen that you all made the house bigger than it is in the picture. This one was a total nightmare for me couldn't get to grips with it at all, was getting to lost in the details maybe.

yeah, the perspective in this was trickey... I did make that house bigger looking back on it. Looking back on it I should have taken more time to get that right and adjust it. In this one I barely made any size corrections. I guess I was to worried about time.

Thanks so much for your feedback!

It's not a major problem it's just something I noticed in everyone's pieces, I think it's because you make it more important in your mind because you are focusing on it so it comes out bigger, like when people draw eyes too big in a portrait because they are subconsciously looking at them with more importance. I was worried about the time alot on this one too, I found it the most difficult of the lot. I think I'd change my approach next time and draw all the hills out then add the fog on a seprate layer rather than doing them both on the same layer because it made painting it a total nightmare.

I love the rolling hills and how you suggested their texture with this kind of parallel lines and I love the colors you got too, it just looks so warm and serene ^^ Only thing is I think the values were a bit darker in the bottom of the image But other than that, I looove it

yeah, in yours the thumb looks dead on to the original pic.... mine... not so much. Looking back on it now I wish I took more time for that. XD

Thanks again Marla! Loved talking with you!
