Commission for *Solarpelt !
This one was really great to do - the brief was a romantic scene between these two lovebirds, so I thought a wide landscape with an almost fantasy-ish sky would work.
|| If you'd be interested in a similar commission, I've got another to do but I'll probably be opening up more slots at some point, so stay tuned. This took a bit longer than I expected, though, so the price may rise a little from the first slots that I opened. ||

my and my boyfriend plan on going to a similar place near where he lives [he lives in canada and i live in england] and just watching the stars there. and this is pretty much how he described what the view looked like XD great job!

...As long as I can remember, really. (: But I've been drawing with the intention to improve since maybe.. 2009-ish? So about 3 years. I would have been 12. c:

well i've been drawing for as long as i can remember too XD but i've only been drawing digital since i was 16 (when i first joined dA in Nov 2010) and i've been drawing with the intentioned to improve since i join since it gave me the drive to improve being on dA [= i used lots of tutorial and shit and used photos and yeah [= here i am XD
well if it make you feel better i think your art is great! great talent for your age [= alot better than what i was at your age XD (that makes me sound old! haha XD)

Tutorials and photos are the only reason you can tell what species my drawings are meant to be. xD Helped so much when I first started trying to improve (and now too, actually).

that's the same for me when im drawing animals other than wolves XD i dont need ref for wolves, but everything else i'm like using a 1000 refs lol XD yeah they do [= (yeah same ^^ im trying to get muscel definition in my pictures atm)

wow 0.o i know some artist on here like that too, but the question is, how long ave they been learning different animal anatomy for? see, i would draw a cat without ref, like i know the legs stucture and all that, i know they have shorter legs in comparison to their body than dogs, they have shorter snouts. i just walk around and if i see a cat across the street, i'll observe it ya know? so maybe your friends just been doing a lot of observation XD
i need refs to get the details right, like i will have a good go without ref [= but~ just to make sure it's spot on i use ref XD

I'm terrible at remembering anatomy like that. Honestly, I've been trying to learn it for years but I still need refs for it to look half decent. I think some people are just naturally better on picking it up from observation.
Refs usually give me new ideas too - sometimes I see a pose I wouldn't have thought of before. o:

I don't use any sophisticated method, I'm sorry to say, usually I just block in the background colour, then get a darker shade at 50-60% opacity or so, draw the strokes, then go back and add highlights and shadows. c:
