From the movie "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind"I remember my dad renting this movie when I was 5ish, and being very confused by my first taste of anime. I now very much appreciate this film, and recently picked up the graphic novel it was based on.

It's a fantastic film, all right.
But if Miyazaki himself hadn't been the one to OK it, I'd be foaming at the mouth over the liberties taken at the end. The film only tells about the first third of the story, and then uses whatever plot threads are lying around to craft a happy resolution. The full manga crafts a richer story which is more dark and thoughtful.
It would take a miniseries to do the manga justice, so I shouldn't be mad. I recommend it. It's pretty cool, and the publisher left the original kanji sound effects. They're translated panel by panel with an appendix in the front.

Spongebob reference. The episode with the giant worm? Everyone was in a panic on what to do, and Patrick stands up and says that. They call him crazy, but at the end of the episode, they're all pushing their city into another spot to escape the worm.

OH MY GOODNESS I had a fondness for Ohms in 5th grade, and I legit used to say Oh my Ohm! I've only seen this movie twice, but it's def. an incredible movie (as all of Miyazaki films!), and glad to see such from you!
