Description The never ending battle between good an evil takes yet another form.

For those who have played Knights of the Old Republic 2 or have seen the advertising artwork, this may seem somewhat familliar. I am dressed as Jedi Master Atris and Alan is dressed as the Sith Lord, Darth Nihilus. In the game, these two characters actually never face off, nor is Atris as truly Light Side as she is portrayed in the artwork, but it is still very recognizable and inspiring and I preffer to see her as a true Light Side Jedi Master.

My Atris costume, as shown here, is actually not entirely finished. Missing here are the long embroidered tabards and I need to redo the obi, as well as replace my black boots with white ones. The hardest part of this outfit, besides getting truly clear pictures to take details from, is that it is all white. In order to break it up a bit, I have actually constructed the costume of many different types and textures of fabric.

The tunic sleeves are transluscent, chemise weight cotton while the body is a thicker poly-cotton blend with a very slight shine due to a percentage of lycra in the mix. The sleeve cuffs, obi and neck band are all duponi silk while the skirt is yet another type of poly-cotton. I hope the make the tabards of an open weave or linen type material with the emboidery done in silvery grey. The lightsaber I'm holding is actually a MR Mace Windu, photoshopped, but I hope to replace it soon with a blue one from a different company.

I nicknamed this pic Yin & Yang because it does show so many opposites. Jedi vs Sith, Good vs Evil, White vs Black, Woman vs Man etc. but also because we inadverdantly almost form the Yin Yang symbol in the pic, with Nihilus' white mask contrasting my black boots. I would love to get more, better pics in the future but it may be difficult as I understand he is selling his Nihilus costume. Guess I will have to find a new Sith Lord.

The pic has been photoshopped a great deal (not the costumes themselves, other than lighting), from the sabers to some of the wall elements and the window background. It didn't turn out quite as well as I would have liked but it will do for now.

It's pretty good. If you can finish the costumes and have one of them caught doing a mid-leap attack with the lightsaber, it will be very epic and I'll definitely fave it.

I actually think this is a good start for Atris vs. Nihilus duels. Try for jumping attacks--this will be very epic and cool and who knows what else.

Just a thought.

Nice! you're right it does look like yin and yang

I do wish more of the detail would show up, I'm glad you gave a description...I can kinda see the different textures here, too bad white is so hard to photograph like that

That's the only thing I don't like. I LOVE white clothes and costumes, but the detail on them is so hard to photograph. Once a bit more work is done, I hope to get some better pics of this.

yay

One of the most important things, I think, is texture, which so many people ignore when they're making costumes...and sure, they don't really show up from afar and the outfit is usually still recognizable, but it's details like that that really make a nice costume. I always love seening the super close up shots of the different fabrics they used for costumes in movies. Although you rarely get close enough to see much more than the general design and color on screen I love that the details actual are there....I think somehow you can just feel them.
