Second Rule of Invulnerability: You don't get to opt out of being the bait if you are the only member of your party who can, in fact, claim invulnerability.
The First Rule is that everything's better with Papierwaite and Disney-flavored drag. Neither of which has much or anything to do with invulnerability, but First Rules are always worth noting. Always.

Read it all in his voice. Gaaawd, Papierwaite and Norrington are, in my opinion, the best secondary characters in Sam & Max to date.

They're among my very favorites too. I wonder if the fact that they came with more backstory up front than any other Sam & Max character has something to do with it. Well, aside from said backstory being quite intriguing of course.

I don't know if I would be as disappointed, but I'd certainly miss them. I mean, while I generally want secondary characters to return if and only if the story calls for it, there's tons of ways Telltale could justify it for these two. (And of course it's impossible to please everyone who complain that "Telltale reuse too many recurring characters WAAH" anyway, so yeah. 
... Bluh. At least in the meantime I've got my post-TDP, Papierwaite-and-Norrington-inclusive headcanon to go with before it's Jossed to hell and back in a few years. \o/
