Description WARNING!: Blood and GRIMDERP ahead!

Warfare in the happy world of My Little Pony always seemed like a silly thing, but they do seem to have a standing military - so why not?

I thought It'd be funny to see if I could depict a cartoon-realism situation dealing with the ~armies~ of Celestia. Not sure why I chose griffins as an opponent, they just seemed fun to draw. The look is inspired by the Gladiator opening cinematic color scheme.

About 20 hours in SAI, making 3 parts for a Photoshop image linking them all. I'm sure you can find things wrong with this. My only excuse is that it's the largest image I've ever done (content and characters).

No these are just scenes that pop into my head. I can't say it's based on anything, but you can probably find something related somewhere.

Really cool dude, I always thought that a war in Equestria is possible, the scene is amazing, so epic, but crude, shows the crudeness of the war.

Alas, a silly war was not to be.
What happened next went down in infamy.

Discord escaped and then they say,
His heart shrank 30 sizes that day.

With talons and hooves, pikes and spears,
Griffin and pony fought on for years.

Blood and gore covered the ground,
Where meadows of flowers once had been found.

At last all lay dead, the land in eternal gloom,

Zecora narrated. The war was a big plus for the zebra. They stayed as neutral arms suppliers, then took over the world once the ponies and griffins wiped each other out!

Thank you so much trinosan! The simple cartoons I do are really just what this looks like before I added lights, darks, and blended a lot. I've used traditional mediums most my life, I am just learning how to make it happen in SAI and Photoshop now. Thanks a lot for recommending SAI too, it's amazing and much easier for the ~painting~ effect.
