I have to ask, in all of your demos I've seen, the only power tool you use is a drill. Would it be so bad to use a sabber saw or electric sander? Or can you only do it with copping saws and such?

One more tip on sharpening the blade use a pencil to mark out how far you want the taper to go when the line disappears stop. I use 3/4" from the edge or roughly 1/2 the blade width.

I always have trouble drawing another pencil line on the actual blade XD, I have never really done that hmm..

The trick is to trace the blade on a piece of cardboard and use that as a guide. If you do it on a piece of thin plywood it is a permanent template for both cutting the blade and a sanding guide.
