I don't normally post more than one lightning pic per storm, i like to pick the best out and just post that. But this picture was so close in looks that i had a real tuff choice of which was better. Anyway, this was taken about 2 min after my other photo "Zeus Unleashed"Related content

Both shots are amazing - Zeus has more lightning craziness and the cloud formation looks more ominous, but I like the cascade effect on this one.

You don't shot when you see it, usually it's too late. You rather just point the camera when the lightning may occur, shot, and just wait. If nothing interesting happened, you do that all again and again and again ...

Well, if EXIF data here are wright it is digital, Canon EOS 50D. You asked how did he capture the lighting. The way to capture the lighting - in short - is to set long exposure (like 25seconds what is possible in digital cameras) but not too long to make an image overexposed and be just as lucky as the author of that photo

I really can't decide which I think is better either, "Zeus unleashed" has more "spindly bits" coming off of it and a higher arc, but "2min.." has a stronger central bolt and origin point. I therefore conclude that they are both equally extremely awesome!
care to share any info on your camera settings?
