Description So far, I haven't seen very many (if any) Christian socialist symbols, including flags.

So, I decided to make my own. It's pretty simple really.

Red = Socialism.

White = Peace, pacifism.

The cross = Jesus Christ and his teachings.

I myself am strongly against socialism because I feel that too many people take advantage of it and also I grew up in an individualistic culture and I wouldn't feel comfortable with it. However, I don't care what ideology of economics one has so long as they have Christ at the center of their moral code and so long as the people have a good work ethic, and that is more important to me. Nice flag though, and I hope there is no offense.

I find this EXTREMELY offensive! Christ never had anything to do with Socialism! Christ did say give to the poor, yes, but I don't recall him saying STEAL from the rich, and give to the poor! This is a mockery of Christ's teachings and the Christian faith! No man can ever be Socialist, yet still be Christian.

Actually, all of Christianity blends perfectly with Socialism. Socialism stands for the preservation of human rights, freedom from exploitation and greed, harmony with nature, fair and just treatment of humankind, mercy and peaceful negotiation, and equal access to medicine, work, and culture. How is this against anything in the bible. I have been an active and dedicated christian for years and have also self-identified as an Eco-Socialist for the last few years and I have found zero conflicts between the teachings of Jesus and those of Socialism.

First, I have the right to speech freely, so I CAN denounce this shit. Second, how does Christianity and Socialism blend together? And, yeah...I can still voice my opinion, whether like it or not. Kinda something people do in a free society.

Actually I came across this while browsing one day, and peaked my interest.

Anyway, I'm not saying anything more. After the, "book of zombie Jesus," comment, I'm not going to bother.

Yeah i must agree i was mad and you tipped me off, BUT you defended what you believe in i like that, you stuck up for your belief, and that what is missing in the human race, people dont stick up for themselves or others anymore, you made my day by doing that.

I agree people need to have more backbone, which is uncommon to see when people are challenged. Anyway, take care.

I was raised very christian but was never baptized and consider myself Agnostic. But I do think that Jesus was one of their first socialists.

"But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just." - Luke 14:13 &14.

"If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven." - Matthew 19:21

God bless friend.

From one Christian Socialist to another, it looks GREAT!
Always remember, Jesus Christ our Lord who know art in Heaven would have been called a socialist today.

But as a socialist, I cant help but feel that religions like Christianity are ultimately, enemies of the socialist movement. Religion is essentially a control mechanism, a way for the elite to use our superstitions and irrationality against us. I am not saying Christians are evil, rather that they are simply people that are victims of those that wish to control and subvert us. Anyway, just some of my thoughts .

as a christian and a socialist i see where your coming from but recall back in 1800's the church was WAY more powerful than it is today. it does still have influcane but not as much control as in the old days. now do some religious people want to control people to that i say look at the sad time in history call the dark ages

Where Christ goes, freedom goes. That is why many nations ban the Bible.

GolanArms In reply to alyssum [2009-09-14 23:19:13 +0000 UTC]

Actually, not that many nations do ban the bible, and even if they do, they always try and institutionalize some kind of religion or cult-like nationalism. I don't know, but Christianity has been used a lot to oppress the people or at least to distract people while they're being oppressed. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's the way I see it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alyssum In reply to GolanArms [2009-09-15 02:44:12 +0000 UTC]

Yes that has happened. Many groups will have some sort of agenda for power, control, opression...it is not a religious thing, it's a people thing. Whether religious or not people will want their way and do just about anything to achieve their vision. Socialism can be used to control and suppress as well. While Christianity has been used as a means of control, genuine Christians will follow in Christ's teachings of serving, and respect. Anyway, just wanted to say that not everyone is one way, and believes what they say, on any side. Thank you for responding

GolanArms In reply to alyssum [2009-09-15 12:43:58 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm not trying to be mean, and I don't believe Christians are evil. If believing in god gives someone peace or following Jesus's teachings makes them a better person then I have no problem. But on the other hand, you should never use religion as a reason for why you should bow down to those in authority. The clergy have often sided with those in power, so be wary of them.

Always question authority...

I agree, I'm not Catholic. I don't believe in following man I follow my God, and he tells us in his word to test everyone, to examine them, to on the look out. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

I do not mean to sound against Catholics, in any way. Each branch of Christianity will look different as we are different peoples, each searching out Christ's heart. Anywho, just wanted to clarify.

christiansocialism In reply to CardinalOfPain [2009-05-27 15:55:58 +0000 UTC]

Internationalist, pacifist socialism, with a moral base inspired by the teachings of Christ; also, the belief that the Bible (or at least Christ himself...) is socialist.

However, my specific political views incorporate bits and pieces of various systems and ideologies (socialist and communist ones). I've been trying to think of my own name for it, but so far, no luck...

Dude, that's because there aren't many sane Christian socialists. Not to burst yiour bubble, but, even though Christianity is all about helping others, it's also about retaining one's right to worship as one pleases. How many socialist states are doing well enough to assure that right for their citizens?

But it's a well-made picture. What did you use?
