This is a betta I had a few years back. One of those Walmart impulse purchases. He was so gorgeous, I couldn't pass him up. It was suggested to me I should name him Mikhail after Mikhail Gorbachev because of the big red blotch on top of his head. I decided to name him Mickey instead.Species: Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta splendens)

What a beautiful color he is and it looks as if you took the photo underwater. Too many times I get that awful glare from the glass.
Gotta love impulse buys from Wal-Mart! I can't tell you how many times I have done that.

For avoiding glares, you have to have a bright aquarium light or other spotlight/flash mounted above the tank and a completely dark room. I usually take aquarium photos at night. This tank is 8 inches square and 13 inches tall and has a 15watt compact florescent bulb (equiv. 40watt incandescent).
The only other fish I have impulse purchased from Walmart are corydoras catfish. They get theirs as just mixed species for all the same price. Occasionally I'll see a rare or more expensive species mixed in with the common ones and I just can't pass it up. My local Walmart got rid of their fish section so I won't have that problem/opportunity anymore when I go get hay for my rabbits every other week.
