take that silly dA logo off his nose and put your own name there.
why put a dA advertisement on your phenomenal artwork?
put your OWN name on it -- so that you can be remembered for this magnificent piece of art -- dA does not deserve to take credit for it, or to ruin it with its silly advertisement.

The dA watermark will stay for now.
I'm glad you like it, but I've seen enough work stolen on the internet to no better. Plus, I don't have a site of my own right now, so the dA watermark works for me... for now.

why cant you just type your name on it? Its so simple -- and it promotes YOU as an artist rather than posting an advertisement for dA. To me, it cheapens your artwork to have an advertisement on it.
It's YOUR work -- its YOUR name that ought to be remembered for that piece of art -- not some dA commercial.
It's easy enough to type your name or your dA name on your work. You don't need a site of your own -- you've got your dA account -- you can even use THAT for your watermark.
its just a cheap sell-out to slap an advertisement on your work and call that protection.
I normally never fav anything with the dA watermark on it, because it obscures too much of the work. Even large watermarks are fine and can be tastefully done
you can type whatever you want in big letters on your picture, then make a mask (also called a selection in Photoshop) out of it, then desaturate it. Voila! Instant watermark.

The short answer, I don't want to. Period. Not because I can't or don't know how, but because I don't want to.
But the long answer. People are coming to MY page on dA to look at MY art. I don't need anymore 'advertising' as you called the watermark. They are here. But I also feel that it's not "a cheap sell-out" to use the tools that are provided for me here on dA. It would be like someone coming up to me and giving me a 9b pencil and I refuse because it says Honda on the side of it. A better analogy would be, if I go somewhere (lets say Disney Land) on a really expensive bike and realize when I get there that I don't have a lock. I ask the staff there and they have some to use for free, but they have a huge Disney logo on it. Hmmmm, lets see, use the lock that's "advertising" for the location I'm at, or just lean the bike against a wall or tree and watch how long it takes to get stolen. What will I do. I think I'd be a sell-out as you put it, and use the lock. It's just safer.
Then that's my opinion, and not everyone agrees. In this case though, my opinion is the only one that matters, because it my work.
I thank you for your input and expressing your point of view, but I'm not changing my mind.
