Painted in Adobe Photoshop CS5 on an Intuos4 Medium

I finally got the chance to "finish" the full, completed version of my digital lion painting that I used in my Panthera poster:

This is the first in my newest series that I will be working on, Felidae. It will primarily focus on the big cats, but I'm going to try and include some of the smaller cats as well, such as the lynx.

THANK YOU, IVY. <3
And I am so happy to hear that. I'm still trying to improve on making my drawings look like photographs. I don't think I'm there yet, but I'm glad others are seeing it.

Anytime love!
I really do think you make incredible pieces of art, even if they're not perfectly photographic-esque.
Keep up the fabulous work!!

I knew the finished work was going to look amazing, but I wasn't expecting THIS amazing. It's ABSOLUTELY beautiful! Great job Chelsea.
I was watching Pierce Morgen (I believe that's his name) the other night because he had that WildLife guy on to show off different wild animals. A lynx, snow leopard and cheetah were among them.
You plan on doing a snow leopard right? (I think you told me before you are but could have been talking about just a leopard, I don't remember. XD)
Anyways, I'm looking forward to this series.

Thanks Jamie! I myself am really happy with how it turned out. I can't wait to get started on wrapping up the tiger. <3

Aww! That is so cool! That would be such a fun job. I'm surprised he had a snow leopard and cheetah with him considering how big they are. I know cheetahs are the least dangerous of the big cats, but I would still think it'd be a concern for the audience's safety, lol. If there was an audience or was it just Pierce?

And absolutely! Snow leopards are awesome. They are so pretty (and FLUFFY!) and are my third favourite behind the lion and tiger. I'll definitely paint a snow leopard, as well as the other leopard variations.

Glad you're looking forward to this series. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm so excited about it. I think it's an official obsession now, lol. And I also have the vector-based big cat series but I haven't added onto that one yet besides the tiger. I'm going to focus on this one for now because photorealism is my favourite "style."

You should be happy with it!

The snow leopard wasn't fully grown, maybe only a few months old, but it was funny because this one cameraman was getting a close up shot of it and the leopard hissed and tried to scratch the camera. I would have LOVED to be that camera person. Each animal had a handler so it was on a leash. The cheetah was full grown with a harness on. It was well behaved.
So there was an audience, but Morgen obviously didn't like any of the animals, at least the dangerous ones, he was such a chicken.
Jimmy Fallon recently had this other wildlife guy on (one that often comes on because they have a contract with the show.) Jimmy hates the guy though because he's so loony and he messes with Jimmy by letting animals he's scared of get too close. The guy reached behind his chair into this box the other day to get a snake and he threw two big fake snakes at Jimmy, he freaked.
I love those guys though because of the animals, I wish we had someone come on our live show with animals.

Awesome! I was really hoping you would, because they are so beautiful and I know you'd bring their beauty out in your art. Tigers are my favorite, Lions second, all the others aren't really in a certain order though, I love them all so much. but snow leopards and cheetahs are high on the list if I had a list. <3

You enjoying it is what makes the art all the more amazing, because you are not just painting/drawing because you are good at it, but because you love doing it. Which blends into your work, makes them as beautiful and amazing as they are.
It's definitely easy to see why this is your favorite style, it's so real, it captures the animal as they really are. Which you do so perfectly.
So, I strongly encourage you to stay 'obsessing' over it.

That makes more sense then, lol. That is so hilarious about the leopard trying to scratch the camera. XD Poor baby; it was probably stressed out. And that doesn't surprise me about Morgan being afraid of the "dangerous" animals. XD That's funny about the fake snakes and Jimmy Fallon. LOL. I love it when they bring animals on talk shows. It just makes them a thousand times more interesting. That would be so cool if you could get someone like that on your show.

Same here. <3 I just love wild cats in general, ha. They are all beautiful. I don't have an order after the snow leopard. But yeah. Lion, tiger, and the snow leopard are my top three. I'm excited to paint the snow leopard.

I definitely will. Big cats will probably start to become the central focus of my personal work, and I am perfectly alright with that if it gets people invested in wanting to save them.
And absolutely. Me becoming incredibly passionate about painting and drawing them shows in my work and makes it even better.
Photorealism is so awesome, and what you said is why I love it so much. And because of how detail-oriented it is, it allows me to just escape from reality and really zone in and focus and think on nothing else except the subject I am drawing or painting.
