We got a permit to visit but camping is not allowed in the CBS area. You can however camp at the parking area which is blm land.

Good plan! Definately one of the most beautiful places I have been to in the Southwest. Not much traffic too. Cant go wrong there.

Exactly, We went to horseshoe bend and lake powell to camp out...The bend was crowded and then right as the sun was setting it became empty, great for photographs. The landscape is similar to coyote butte's too but not nearly as spectacular

And we drove right past horseshoe bend on the way to the Grand Canyon years ago. bummer. I still kinda regret that.

I remember seeing it from the highway. Just should have stopped. Was on the race to GC for susnet which was a total fail anyways.. Next time.

The roads are usually closed because of snow and rain. Not sure if it is usually open from spring to fall
