Corvidae65 — Alkalai Road

Took a drive up Alkalai road today. This road is a dirt road that connects Rapid City, South Dakota to Sturgis, South Dakota. I sort of meanders there, I should say Bear Butte stands on the left side of the shot.
If a person took the Interstate, it would be about 30 miles to Sturgis--this way is about 50. I took a lot of shots, but maybe only one or two will make the cut...the rest will fall victim to the delete button

I used a UV filter and ND2 + ND 2 stacked for this shot. The camera was set on 'Vivid' for color and there was some fiddling in PSP 12

Wow John as soon as I'm not here for a couple days look what happens. This is great. Love the colors and the depth. Especially like how you managed to retain the bright blue sky at the top of the image. After studying it for awhile I think the image has really good balance and it really doesn't hold my eye in one spot. I am continually drawn into the sunset but not held there because the rest of the image is boring. Nice one.

It`s one beautiful skyline,don`t know how far you trekked(?) to nail it but twas worth it bud

For me John,like Diana noted,it would be better balanced with some of the foreground grass cropped out,not much but some

Thank you, Jonathan I guess I drove about 35 miles out to this spot. Actually I drove all the way to Bear Butte and some ways north of it before heading home and stopping to take some shots here, so the amended version of my figuring is probably closer to 85 miles
