Had a go at drawing some TLK fanart in this style I've been developing lately. And I love the idea of Sarabi and Mufasa being all cuddly. I struggled with the shadows. Light. It eludes me.Used this tutorial for the ground: [link]

Firstly - lovely piece. It's refreshing to see TLK fanart that actually uses a good dose of realism. Secondly, I've been looking for a ground tutorial, and the one that you've linked to seems to be a deleted deviation. If you would be so kind, could you please walk me through the steps as to how you painted the ground?

Thanks for the sweet comment. I can't remember exactly how I did the ground. That tutorial was made by *Esava on her old account. I would suggest contacting her to ask if she still has that tutorial somewhere and if she would upload it.

I love their pose and expression (makes me feel all hapy, too xD). The left (our left) foreleg of sarabi might look a bit unstable though: For some reason it seem that only a comparatively little part of the paw is touching the ground, making it look 'unsafe' how heavily she's leaning on it ^^

Ah you're right. I did have a little trouble getting that paw to look like it's actually bearing a lot of her weight. But I tried to make it look like some of her weight was also on Mufasa's chest.

I like this style. I like it more than the trademarked one. There is something more touching about seeing more realistic lions being affectionate like this.

That's very beautiful! I love the soft purple shading, the intimate, sweet pose, and their expressions are adorable
I don't know really what I could suggest as a way of improvements on this specifically, since it already looks so nice. One thing I could suggest, however, might be to try darkening areas on your characters where the shadows would be deepest, just to give them a little bit more dimension. Other than that, I'm really diggin' this piece

So so so so... I really really really like this picture. I mean, you just did the lighting so amazingly and even with all the struggles with lighting and all, it looks amazing. Their poses too <3 They just look so happy and nice. I really like this. A lot a lot.
