~My first sketchdump of my newest love~

While I may have long periods of silence, that doesn't mean I'm not making art. Yes, with real-life situations, my time is very constrained, but I still like to art. It's just hard for me to finish, especially commissions and prizes, because my perfectionist side won't let me submit something unless it's PERFECT~
Sketchdumps might help with those submission-less lulls, by giving me the joy of sharing my art still, and by delighting my fans who like to view my art.

So here goes! A sketchdump for the king, Lord Royal Highness~

Okay, weeks ago, I got really into watching YouTubers review Spongebob episodes, even though I wasn't a regular viewer, or fan really. But their reviews were all very interesting. So much so, I was even beginning to imagine a fanfic of my sisters and I visiting Bikini Bottom as mole crabs, for kicks and giggles, especially since we were reuniting for Mother's Day. (I'd imagine we'd all get along with Squidward) Then the reviewers came across the special episode titled "Atlantis Squarepantis", and across the board every one of them hated it and panned it.
That was when I learned that the introduced character of that episode, Lord Royal Highness, was voiced by David Bowie. I was instantly interested and was inspired to make some fanart for this character,
I just had to! and that was just the start~
At first, I felt like he was really interesting. A colorful character who is voiced by David Bowie, but doesn't sing (???), and plays a Willy Wonka-esque king of a race of warriors-turned-pacifists. Connecting him with Willy Wonka and David Bowie, I quickly drew two ideas, of him pulling a memorable pose of theirs.
There's the Willy Wonka meme pose, and second is the King Jareth blowing bubbles pose. (Oh there are so many more poses I could do, and would later do one of them, as you'll see.)

But then, something clicked when I realized that he also resembled the Chief Blue Meanie (villain of the Yellow Submarine movie).. No, it was more than that. I not only realized his design kind of drew influence from the Blue Meanie, but upon further thinking, he's REALLY influenced by the Blue Meanie!

+ + = Lord Royal Highness

Realizing how.. just.. INTERESTING this character's makeup was, and how anything I could imagine with it made more sense, I became OBSESSED with how interesting he was, or could be~
But! We're not here to go into my theory about LRH and the Blue Meanies, but to talk about how this sketchdump came to be~

Shortly after meeting LRH.. I got sick; came home from work and went head-first into a pillow and remained bed-ridden the following day with a nasty cold. (I hardly ever get that sick). With my roommate out (and generally negative) and friends far away and living farther away from family, I was pretty lonely. So, in my sick state, I imagined having the positive Lord Royal Highness caring for me at my bedside. LRH is one of great patience and cordiality; he would be a great comfort to me. Then, following his advice towards art..

"Art is what happens when you learn to DREAM. Go on, dream a little."

..I made a pencil doodle of our scenario. Afterwards, I would remake it digitally, and then match it with a human form.
After all my musing on him, it was then.. when I fell in love~
Annnd then all my drawing energy went into drawing said musings about this fascinating character. Now, I understand I might've drawn a lot, but please, I do hope you enjoy my compilation of INC sketches, putting LRH in situations of my imagination, and in poses similar to those who make up his very existence.

Oh, and yes, you can expect to see more of him in the future~
