Description I had this kind of thoughts while making this: “I want to draw a green dragon... Aaand now it’s in the field. I don’t like crass I want something else. Flowers maybe, but which flowers crow as a field? Tulips, tulips are good. And trees with new leafs to the background, it’s supposed to be spring. Some butterflies and something a bit special for the sky.”

And that’s how this painting/drawing came to being. I started it with a proper pencils sketch (on a separate paper) which made this easy to work with. The base is done with watercolours, then there is a bunch of stuff on top of it: colour pencils on the sky, flowers and trees, graphite pencil for some outlines, black fineliners for the dragon and white ink in the sun and sky.

I really like the dragons fur but the front legs are major issue for me. I think they would have looked better if I had drawn them completely visible, but then the dragon couldn’t be in a field. The flowers were pain to do but they turned out nicely. I left them without much detail so that they wouldn’t compete with the dragon (and I couldn’t figure out what else to add to them). The field in the distance are supposed to be covered in tulips but they rather look like they would have been made of cotton candy. Swirl in the sky are nice.

The muzzle is a bit big... but the background is great! I love the flowers from the field.

Do you mean the head? Because when I check word muzzle from web dictionary it is described as one of those things you put on dogs to keep them from biting you. I'm glad you like the background and the flowers!

Muzzle is the front part, where the nose and the mouth are, a part that separates the forehead and the mouth in animals like cats, dogs and all of those who have a long-shaped face. Head is the whole thing itself, though mostly where the skull is...

But yes I loved the BG

This is beautiful! The colouring is fantastic and I love the swirl in the sky, and the way you drew all those tulips, this must have taken ages!

How on earth did you draw those swirls? I'm so curious

Thank you!
It did take quite some time to paint all those tulips.
I used watercolour as a base for the swirls. Then I added the actual shapes with the coloured pencils. The white parts are done with white ink and then I darkened the some of the swirls with the graphite pencil. However, it didn't take long to do the sky.

Wow you have a very steady hand to draw the swirl and a lot of patience too, it really paid off with this, it's beautifully clean and crisp
