Description "Everything organic we know of is simply machinery, in one form or another. Tendons replace pistons; flesh in the place of steel; blood is simply biological coolant. To deny this and shun it is more than just Mechanicus orthodoxy – it is idiocy."
- Attributed to an Adeptus Mechanicus Magos Genetor

"Thus, the cogwheel represents the mechanic nature of the Universe. The skull represents the unity of flesh and the machine; but, as flesh dies and decays, the machine persists. Overall, we see this in the Most Holy Symbol of the Adeptus Mechanicus: that we must strive towards the perfection of the machine, and through this, the unity with the Omnissiah."
- Magos Sergius Riedmann, addressing the Mechanicus seminary at Doritt.

A slightly non-canon icon of the Tech-Priesthood of Mars. In the finest traditions of the Mechanicus, it is built from scavenged pieces of junk (a plastic scull off a capsule toy, a lugnut, some brass and steel wire, and a few bits off a Valkyrie) and held together with spittle (that is, Krazy Glue) and prayers to the Omnissiah (may his cogs be forever greased!). I'm planning to put this on a brass chain later on.

EDIT: Damn, I just realized I should have photographed it on a red background.

Scull paint scheme:
* Chaos Black primer.
* Boltgun Metal, Mithril Silver drybrush, Chaos Black wash on the left side.
* Alternating layers of Skull White and Elf Flesh, with a Griffon Sepia wash on the right side.
* Purity Seal.

Completed around March 5, 2010. Measures 1 1/3'' in diameter. Compare with a canon AdMech icon .

WH40K and Adeptus Mechanicus (c) Games Workshop. Sergius Riedmann is an OC.

Honestly, you or GW could make a fortune selling these. I'd buy one.

Well, there's two reasons I can't make a fortune off these:
1) GW would sue me for copyright infringement.
2) Skulls like this are hard to find.

IIRC, Forge World has a line of icons for sale.

Don't worry, I didn't think you'd give it to me. But the sign of a nice piece of jewelry is that it gets that response in people who see a photo of it. Ha...

If you can build / customize WH40K models, you can do something like this. All it takes is some imagination.

I made a brass aquila badge earlier, turned out a bit too crude for posting here. Since I gifted that away, I do intend to make another one for myself.
