Traditionaly, there's ofthen no handle on a kiridashi c: The knife is thick enough to hold and use as it is. But I'm working on a simple saya for it^^

Well done. Looks quite minimalistic.
Everything that's not visibly sharp is dull enough to hold, right?

It is. It's actually quite comfu and has a nice solid weight to it c:

I imagine. How difficult was it to craft one?

It took more steel than I thought. This knife is perhaps just a fifth of the initial weight of the material. But I also need to learn how to "watch the slagg" so I don't "burn" away too much material in the process. It's hard, I won't lie ^^'

I can imagine. Must have been quite a piece of work. You must be proud of it.
Where did the rest of the material go?

It gets burnt up, slagged and melted. It unavoidable. Forgewelding is a material-taxing process^^'

Who would have thought. Is this getting expensive for your pocket? I don't know prices for materials, but losing it can't be good.

Oh, that sounds good. Glad to hear blacksmiths are adding to the green pool of the world.
Good luck with the rest of your projects. Hope they'll turn out as good as the knife.

Congrats, you now have shown to the world that the Swedish are excellent blacksmiths as well. And it does look so beautiful, it actually would be cool to have this pattern commonly used. Not to mention that it goes well with mahogany, since you already mention it.
