Page 4 of Guilty Gear RelationshipsI'm gonna say that the battle with the Hydra could've happened sometime before the 2150s...but I'm assuming Kliff is at least 40-50 years old by the way he fights the creature...so he can't have been too old and the events after the sealing took place in 2181 so it couldn't have been that long a time.
If we ever find out more, I may correct the dates, but this'll do for now.
Also Ky's birthday is November 20, 2159 in case you were wondering. I calculated this based on the fact he inherited leadership of the knights when he was 16 and sealed away Justice in 2175, so he met Sol when he was 13 (AD 2172). But we won't see Sol just quite yet.
He's a tough kid.

I would say it's a homage to Japan mythos, when storm-god Susanoo fought with one of the sacred relics(The sword called Kusanagi) with dreade beast - Orochi(which is this huge 8 headed dragon-like serpent).
This mythos is also in loads of other games(First and foremost - Okami)
Although, the influence of this mythos is MUCH MORE apparent in BlazBlue(they even have all three sacred relics of Japan named there) with the black beast and everything, it is also there in Guilty Gear, go figure...

If you ever look at his movelist, all his moves assume you're fighting a gigantic dragon.
