I always thought Coney Island would be the perfect retreat for the Phantom (mind you, the Vaudeville Cirque aspect of the island, not the commercialized stereotype of Coney Island lol)
Erik was rescued from a Circus that revolved around the ridicule of the sideshow circus freaks. LND made full circle where Erik engendered a sideshow attraction that celebrated the beauty of the dark and the unique

right, I can definitely see it as not only a great location for the Phantom but a great location for a musical in general.
Interesting point. My view is that later on in Erik's life he felt that he wanted to get away from his past, and live in complete seclusion even though we get from the Leroux novel and the ALW musical (not the movie) that he had traveled and had been involved in freak shows.
AFTER Christine it's harder for me to believe that he'd own a freak show and still support the commercialized view of freaks. I would think he would treat them better and emphasize their artistic talents and personalities instead of their ugliness.
But much of LND still doesn't make sense to me so I'd rather not pick at it. I digress!

well, I photo manipulated a picture of Sierra Boggess' head into a picture circulating the net of Ramin Karimloo in some other show of ALW's. Forget what it's called. Anyway, it's not gender swapping (although Christine does look like she's taking the possessive role of the Phantom, no?) as much as a "picture" of what BAMS must've looked like! XD
