Description A blend of the free Victoria 3.0 model and a few metaspheres I had lying around, a big refletive sphere and a ground plane - if you like, a kind of tribute to H.R.Geiger (hope I spelt that right) and something a little different, no fancy lights, just two home made materials used and a bit of morphing in DAZ studio. Bryce5.5 no post work. And yes it is meant to be this dark.

nautilus-esque swirl, good green shades, could be a tad bit light or have more green things on it or something, but the theme is dark, so....yeah. good job.

I'm not sure I should persue this dark theme, not to decry the work of Geiger, but it seems to me that people are less critical of images from the "dark side" than they are for more light hearted sort of works. I wonder why I have that impression?

I say very very nice with the metaspheres.

Well, if you look back through my old images you'll see I've used these "snail shapes" before in a few pics - I was playing with the Multi-replicate and this shame turned up so I stuck it in my object libruary. Thanks.

Very interesting. I like the materials on the models a lot!

Thanks, I've found that using shiny, speculateive materials means you don't need to have so many light sources to "describe" a model - although it is not always appropriate to make people very shiny, in this case I guess I've got away with it.

Thanks. And thanks for adding it to your favourites. Seening the Preditor I guessed this might suit your tastes. Cheers.

Wow, David! This is really different from your other work! What have you DONE to Vicki!!! I like it! Dark and alien... And yes..it does have that Giger feel to it, but it is uniquely your own!

Thanks. What have I DONE to Vicki? What haven't I DONE to Vicki - woof! Well, you know, I find clothing models pointless, but defending artistic nudity a chore, so I thought I'd move the whole subject laterally and remove the nudity issue by negating any sexual connatations - unless of course the viewer were feeling particulary pervy - mind you... no, no, don't go there. I'm pleased you like it.

I am about to do something to another one I found...I forgot her name... hmm...she looks entirely too young to have breasts...anyway, I am going to think of something interesting to do..and of course she's bald...I really should reinstall Daz Studio and see if its just my build that is messed up...Other people seem to have no trouble with it..Including someone in my own household... (I think you'd have to really stretch the pervy thing to get anything sexual out of your current Vicki picture!)

Do you think? Oh. So the baldness thing. Yes, now I have a link somewhere... Grrr... memory challange. I haven't tried this yet, but here is the gist from Popgriffon:-

I've used "Mylochka hair High Pony" downloaded from [link]
This model is designed for Poser's Posette, but I've used it with Victoria3 in DAZ Studio - scaled and fitted there. Exported from DAZ - DAZ creates .obj, .mat, AND TWO FOLDERS: Maps and ConvertedMaps. Then, I've imported it to Bryce to separate file (without any environment). Bryce (5.1) can't import it properly - I've changed material settings: In material Editor - Image Texture Editor - first window is texture from "Maps" folder (properly), but the second is white - there I've be applied corresponding image from "ConvertedMaps". I've set the Diffusion Ambience Bump height and TRANSPARENCY (vital) dots to Texture (A). AND HERE'S MOST IMPORTANT PART: I did it separately for EVERY mesh in this model. The hair models are constructed in layers: ONE LAYER INSIDE THE OTHER (like ONION) - Usually 2-3 layers. THIS IS THE TRAP: They cannot be selected by mouseclick (only external will be selected), nor by rectangle selection (head with details inside),
they are undistiguishable on the screen...(I've spent many days wondering why my changes didn't applied properly to the hair - proper answer: they applied only to the external layer - internal was left unchanged). So I've "exploded" the hair, noted names of the hair meshes, then reloaded the file... Selecting by name is the only way. Ufff - I hope that my English language is English enough to explain anything...

That's lengthy...Haha...The thing is...you shouldn't HAVE to do complicated things...The other person in my household doesn't even understand any of that yet...She put the hair on..and it stayed ON...no messing around...it just stayed...like it was supposed to. It didn't hide or anything.

I guess it's better to be lucky... we look like we are going to have to do it the long way around - for me the hair never works. Grrr....

LovingApathy In reply to davidbrinnen [2005-06-07 14:51:25 +0000 UTC]

Haha... pretty much.
It changes for me- but now I feel that it means a state of pretending to care, like someone showing you affection but they could really careless how it makes you feel.

davidbrinnen In reply to LovingApathy [2005-06-07 16:05:47 +0000 UTC]

Funny how much pretending goes on in the internet, you'd have thought people wouldn't either feel the need or go to the all the extra effort. Well, pretending seems like a lot of effort to me, but I struggle to remember things. Nor do I "feel the need", probably for the same reason. My default state is slightly confused and mildly forgetful - if I added being "Killerweaslefish" or whatever bizzare name took my fancy, I'd be truly lost - espically if I forgot and tried to engage myself in conversation. So what was it before it changed?

LovingApathy In reply to davidbrinnen [2005-06-07 16:47:47 +0000 UTC]

Well, the meaning of β€œLovingApathy” used to be the state of really enjoying that I didn't give a crap... but now it's more sophisticated than that...
Maybe I matured to a realization that my screen name is a meaning of something that I'm affected by, instead of something that I project to others…
Of course, then again, it could be something that contradicts itself, and seems cool written down.

Hey, not that is curious. It might even constitute some kind of "truth" about the nature of change. Things seems to have changed so much. Maybe it's me. Maybe nothing has changed. I'm going to have to ponder this one. You keep on thinking your deep thoughts, it clearly suits you.
