Thank you! Yes, I think robots are 10x easier to deal with than people. Particualy since I don't have to worry about hair.

Thanks you anyway! Never mind, I'm always loosing stuff... but on this occasion I think it made it. We'll see. Thank you for the favourite too.

Do not try to bend the spoon... I like that! And a 1/4 of the icons is - well, impressive, I usually have to use the ledgend to figure mine out... Unless I guess at them. But that does not always work. :unlikely:

It's the DOF that gives you the illusion that it's something you can pick up, it's like an extra level of 3D but it usually only works on stuff you want to look small, use it in a big scene and you get all kinds of confusion going on. The bulb-part... I just tinkered something up in wings3d, if you ever get any time and inclination you can try out this software for free... I think I might have said that, tut's on my site, wings links etc... I think I've been there, somethings are easy, some are tricky, the golf ball shape effect is an easy one. The legs were trickier. The lighting and the reflections are easy - once you know how... as is a lot of things huh? Thank you... for not hurling my poor little metal critter at crazy people.

The quality of the render is really interesting !
The modelling is well done too !
The little one with lighted eyes (we see two little points )
and hydraulic tubes for the legs would be a nice model.
With a mouth and an "uggly" bump tech skin,
it wiill look more scary !
Your work is really inspiring !

Thank you, that "skin" is another wings addition, I took a incosohedron smothed it and then intruded it and smothed it some more, or some such random opperation. I like wings, but I get impatient to see how the models will render up and rarely got into something complex. I'm pleased you like it.

Thank you, very kind of you to say so... but you know, nothing is ever perfect, already I've made three more versions I like better... still, it is kind of you to say so, nevertheless.

Aye, thanks, I'd kinda come to the same conclusion - I'm rendering up a MKII even now. This has springs! I've never done springs before - will have to see how it turns out...

Well, now that rather depends on what deals DAZ are running currently. As a non-subscriber of their platinum club I think it worked out at something like £45 = which to me is a full tank of fuel for my car, so not that expensive, but... it all depends where you are... ah - states - well you have cheaper fuel and a weaker currency so maybe it will seem more expensive to you... best thing to do is check [link] I know you can now get Bryce4 for free, maybe even at DAZ since they own the copywrite for it now. Best thing to do is take a close look at their blurb and see if you can find a demo copy off a magazine like Computer Arts - maybe, since they ran an article on Bryce last Christmas, they have a downloadable demo on their site? It got to be out there somewhere, I'd advice trying before you lay out any of your hard earned cash, Bryce is a bit of an oddity in the 3D render world, some like myself, love it, but others find they can't get on with it. It's not very... er... how can I put it... windows. But that does not detract from it's charms for me.

This is really a good one! I love how the little ones is reflected in the big ones "eyes." I think you really succeeded with your gray lighting experimenting! I like the color of the eyes...it is sort of amber, not really red.

Yes, you are right, I guess they do look a bit like eyes, there are in fact just the ball joint so I hand't seen it in those terms until... yes, well that's it, I was just seeing what I knew to be there! I chose a more orangy red because the pure red is a bit harsh for my tastes. One I'm rendering now has blue light and more advanced "legs" - will be hours before I find out if it has worked. DOF again... slow... Maybe now I'll have to do one with some intensional eyes.

If I knew then what I knew now I'd have given it articulated legs! Maybe I could still do that... mind you, you'd find it more faffing when it comes to building your image... Hang on, I think I sent you the wings file... so I suppose you could snap off it's legs if you wanted to. Use loop cut around the point where they join the body and then save in 3dx format so that it recognises seperate compoinents... woah, I'm getting destracted, it's not blind! It's telepathic obviously - that's what that mesh is over it's head, a subtle telepathic mind-ray enhancing grid. Both my cats have them - don't yours?

In the email marked Arachranids (my spelling) there was a zipped br5 file AND a wings file that is the scource file for the scorpian before it has been smothed or deformed in any way. Loop cut is a line opperation in wings. To use it you need to go into line selecting mode and then select a string of lines that to in a complete circle around some part of your model - then right click and towards the bottom of the menu you will find "loop cut" select that and the model will break along the line you have highlighted and become two models you can now deal with independantly. Very useful.
Antennas is not a bad idea. I was playing with antennas yesterday on my fathers roof, doing a bit of remedial work on it. Don't like heights. But it is done now. So yes, all cats are natural telepaths but some use the special mind-ray enhancers to achieve very specific effects, like causing small dogs to explode or teleporting cat food direct from tins into their stomachs.
