Description
As you may have caught in a discussion on the last page, Ruby cannot glide, so logically, her falling off the edge of Angel Island would be a rather costly mistake. I believe that the Echidnas, as a "race" are probably a rather protective species, which makes them great guardians of all manner of things. Actually I didn't see any of that discussion. I had to look back to see it. I never knew Ruby didn't glide. I just thought they a;; did since Kunx and Tikal do. As for the spiked knuckles I had noticed it but not completely decided she didn't have them. I thought she might have Lara-su like spikes where she can just call on them as needed Wolverine style.

Something tells me Ruby doesn't go down easy, even if she can't glide. It is nice to see Knux go looking for her. Perfectly in his character as a Guardian.

I loved her realisation of "uh oh" in the last page. In a small aspect of truth, perhaps Ruby shouldn't have underestimated Mighty's anger, nor sat in a tree so close to the edge of the Island. Given she doesn't have the trademark knuckles of a standard male guardian like Knuckles, 'clinging' onto the very cliff face of the island would more than likely draw blood from her hands rather than save her life.
Knuckles's guardianship, as I recall way back in the first ever Sonic 48-page special, truly befitted him - it was perhaps the only time we ever saw him guard the species and inhabitants of his island rather than just the Master Emerald. A guardian I think too has a duty to protect and serve everything on the island he was charged with - even if that means going after a hot-blooded echidna female who put two-steelcapped soles into his family jewels XD
I like Knuckles's personality in this - you've taken him straight back to the roots Archie so unfavourably "forgot" along the lines of his development along the path Archie took for him. Given the fact this is also your own style and your own reincarnation of Knuckles's universe along with your own fancharacter (which I cannot say enough - Ruby is fantastically simple yet beautifully complex), you've done a wonderful job keeping Knuckles & Co along the lines of something believable for them, unlike some of the other comic artists along the line.

The sunset...wow, that is some killer lovely colorings. I always loved the mix of bright, primary colors with the cooler ones. And that huge perspective in the middle panel. Such details.
