History:

Before Birth: Heronkit was the only kit born to Tideclan warriors, Hollybreeze and Drifthawk during a time where there were few kits in the nursery.

After Birth: Heronkit’s parents passed during a Greencough epidemic before she could open her eyes. Another queen nursed Heronkit and she was raised by the rest of the clan. Since both her parents were gone and the clan took to raising her, Heronkit was quite spoiled and sheltered and lived a life where she got the best prey to eat and games and stories were often on going to keep her entertained. Heronkit’s caretakers often overlooked her tendency to get in the way of activities in the camp when her curiosity struck while she was growing up.

As an apprentice, Heronpaw was mentored by Sunnypool. Sunnypool was one of Heronpaw’s caretakers during her kithood and the two had an older-younger sister relationship with each other. This made it difficult for Heronpaw to see Sunnypool’s authority. As a result, training was often difficult. Heronpaw would give attitude when given a task when she didn’t want to do and Sunnypool would become frustrated because she didn’t want to punish a cat so close to her. Eventually, under the guidance of other more experienced warriors and mentors, Sunnypool was able to smooth out her apprentice’s defiance. Sunnypool gave her apprentice an ultimatum: take on the responsibility of her rank and care for the rest of her clan or she would refuse to train Heronpaw, as Sunnypool would not train a cat who does not want to become a productive member of Tideclan. Heronpaw, a bit ashamed at her attitude and fearful she would never become a warrior, agreed to try to act more mature. Heronpaw would still give pouts and mild protest when given unpleasant tasks, but no longer threw kit-ish fits and would act according to her mentor’s orders. During training, Heronpaw excelled at swimming and hunting in the water. She also found great strength and stamina while fighting. Her speed was just about average at her best and often caught less prey than other apprentices when hunting on land, despite her better than average ability at tracking the prey.

When Heronpaw earned her warrior name, she was named Heronflight. She kept her spoiled, bratty attitude into her adulthood and would have a lot to say when she was given a task she didn’t like (even when ordered by the deputies or leader.) Due to her privileged upbringing, Heronflight doesn’t recognize the authority of her leader or deputies as much as most warriors would. Heronflight completed her warrior duties with a large amount of optimism and naivety as a result of her sheltered kithood and apprenticeship. When Sunnypool died in a battle, Heronflight was devastated and felt as though she lost a sister as well as a mentor. Despite the pain, Heronflight remained optimistic and firmly believed another death of one close to her would never happen again. Her child-like positivity earns some pity laughs from others in Tideclan, as Heronflight’s inexperience and lack of wisdom causes her to believe her life will always be a bed of roses guided by the Dawn. Goaded on by her impulsive nature, Heronflight will often be the first to take a risk and has often provoked the first attack in border. More than once, she has taken hunting trips by and in the sea during storms and high tide. She earned a reputation of being reckless and found herself being scolded by higher ups in Tideclan or in the medicine den from injuries taken on by her antics. Her passionate curiosity has also landed her in the medicine den when she investigated a badger’s nest in Tideclan’s territory.
