Description

Subtype: Boiling Bloodhound
Type: Hellhound, Pure, Organic Beast, Spawn, Fauna
Species: Demon
Subcategory: Pyro
Category: Fiend
Other Names: Fire Biter (by Dipper), Boiled Hot Dog (by Raz & Mabel), Steamed Hound (by Ford and Wybie), Cnärig /Knaerig/ (Luciferian), Cwn Zlé Agar (Jölvawor), Aíma Thanátou (Greek), Kalb Alsahra' (Arabic), Canis Ignis Mortem (Latin), etc.
Location: Boiling Bloodhounds are commonly found within fiery realms of the Infernal Spheres; places where the intense heat is too deadly for most demons and mortal creatures alike without proper protection such as the scorching desert wastelands of Westlon or the fiery plains of the Infernal Lord, Pompeii.
They can also be found on Earth, mostly in hot desert regions of the Middle East or lower parts of Europe, hunting in packs or guarding spots where warlocks perform rituals and guard their master’s treasure. Due to their hot and fiery nature, they can also be found in much colder climates with no concern for their own survival as their body heat keeps them alive even within zero temperatures.
Coloration: Blood red to rust brown fur, bright red boil bubbles, piss yellow saliva, coal black claws and charred bones, and fiery red eyes and insides
Size: 2’0” to 4’5” feet (adult), 1’0" to 1’5” feet (young)
Weight: 120 to 240 pounds (adult), 30 to 60 pounds (young)
Language: Human (can't speak it but understands it) and Luciferian (also can't speak it but understands it)
Description: They resemble large, fiery eyed, muscular hunting dogs but ones that are much larger than their mortal counterparts with a long whip-like tail, more like a cat tail than a dog tail, with large parts of their bodies burning off as steam emits from the flesh all of which gives it the smell of smoked meat, charred bones visible through the tissue, and boil bubbles popping and sizzling on their backs. They have long snouts with muscled jaws showing off large canines they would use to crush the bones of their prey and tear the flesh out once caught. Along with their large fangs they have large five-toed paw pads ending with sharp claws resembling those of big cats such as tigers or pumas that easily tear through metal that leave permanent marks to all who encounter them.
Personality: Smart and loyal but thankfully tamable. Boiling Bloodhounds are cleaver hunters that use tactics against their prey not found among canines and eternal guardians who can wait around whatever area or location they were commanded to guard for years without hesitation or retaliation. Like actual dogs they can be tamed and trained by the summoner, as well as playing with them and taking them on walks or treated with food, toys, and belly rubs to pacify them.
Abilities: Though not as powerful as other types of hellhounds, Boiling Bloodhounds are some of the more “safer” breeds of hellhounds mortal summoners can evoke in order to have them hunt, guard, and/or terrorize locals under the summoner’s command:

  • Apex Senses: Hellhounds have senses similar to normal canines but are far stronger and as such as track down prey or targets with their sharp sense of smell and hearing; making it difficult to lose their trail.
  • Combusting Blood Disease: Boiling Bloodhounds carry a deadly disease that, once infects a host, causes the body to heat up to the point it burns the body alive.
  • Hellfire Breath: Some fire demons can shoot out a blast of hellfire, sickly colored flames, that not only burn the flesh but also the soul. Boiling Bloodhounds, like other hellhounds, can open their smoldering, acid dripping mouths to exhale a stream of hellfire up to 10 feet toward their target.
  • Hellish Touch: Hellhounds leave burning pawprints where ever they go. They are very difficult to remove and most of the time they are left alone as a reminder of these horrible beasts' nature. Injuries inflicted by hellhounds leave scares on their targets that won't properly heal unless treated with more magical means or through supernatural regeneration.
  • Death by Sight: It is said that seeing a Hellhound three times spells death to the viewer, however this is only half true. Hellhounds have an ability to slay any living mortal by firing a faint beam of life sapping energy from their eyes, quickly draining the target of their life force if hit by the beam three times. However, the ability doesn’t always work as the target still has a chance to survive the gaze more than three times which, if occurs, renders the ability on that target permanently immune to the gaze.
  • Silent Hunter: Hellhounds do not howl or make any dog-like sounds while on the hunt meaning their target will not be able to tell if their being stalked by a hellhound or even a pack of them.
  • Iron Bad: Some demons, as well a good number of magical beings and spirits, are terrified of cold iron as the very metal has been used by mortals to ward off evil spirits for centuries
  • Iron Painful: Not only is cold iron scares away evil spirits and beings, the very touch can burn the flesh of demons like Boiling Bloodhounds, greatly weakening and make it much easier to kill them with the correct blows with said metal.
  • Holy Bad: Due to their demonic nature, demons have a natural revulsion to holy symbols, places, religious figures, objects, etc. some demons are more effected by curtain holy things than others.
  • Holy Painful: Like cold iron for some demons, different holy things like crosses, holy water, and the like can harm demons, causing intense pain and can weakening them.
  • Immolate: Once a Boiling Bloodhound dies (either slain by another creature, killed by accident, simply expires, etc.) the body would erupt into demonic flames; skin, flesh, bone, etc. all consumed by hellfire where once the flames die down, there's nothing left but ash.

Society: Packs of Boiling Bloodhounds can be as small as a pair to up to twenty of the snarling beasts with the largest and strongest of them becoming the leader of the pack. Solitary Boiling Bloodhounds are just as common, mostly among summoners who wanted a guard dog to keep their lair safe from pesky teens, snooping cops or robbers. The territories of Boiling Bloodhounds can extend from five to fourteen miles from their den/guard post and can overlap other hellhound territories.
Relationships: Breeding Boling Bloodhounds, no less any type of hellhound, is difficult in the mortal plane but it’s not impossible. There have been times when a summoner summons a small pack of these demonic pups and one or a few managed to break free and escape, they can survive in their new home with ease and spawn a healthy population… while also harming the native fauna and flora in the process.
Biology:

  • Diet: Like normal canines, Boiling Bloodhounds are capable of eating just about anything as whatever food they consume helps fuel the burning hellish furnace within their bodies and would only bring food back to their dens to consume it later if needed for they tend to prefer eating their meals at the site of their hunts.
  • Senses: Boiling Bloodhounds, as mentioned above, have senses similar to dogs but far greater, making them deadly predators in just about any land or plane of existence. But like mortal canines, they are very sensitive to high pitched sounds and extremely foul odors.
  • Spawn Creation: First believed to be natural fauna of Hell, it is now believed they were the creation of the Infernal Lord known as Queen Alpha, creator of the therianthropic disease and queen of all beasts.
  • Life Cycle: Boiling Bloodhound pups are born in a litter to two to eight, with the pups reaching full maturity in one in a half year. As they mature, the bodies would increase in heat, causing the flesh to bubble with blisters and boils form; once nearing maturity, parts of the flesh fall off entirely allowing smoke and steam to seep out of the open flesh. Once the hound dies, the entire body erupts into flames, leaving nothing but charred ash and dog bones.
  • Homelands: Boiling Bloodhounds are naturally found within the Infernal Spheres, also known as Hell, where packs of them fight among themselves and other demons for food and territory. They are mostly found within hot and/or fiery realms where they hunt for travelers or in rare occasions, roaming about in colder or icy realms and act as attack dogs for ice based demons and hunt for more challenging game in the cold realms.

Personal Views:
“Folklore always describes hellhounds as bringers of bad omens and, sometimes, death by simply looking at them. I have never expected we’d encounter an entire pack of these “Boiling Bloodhounds” as Cross called them and be chased by them! We’ve looked at these steaming hounds numerous times and so far, I only avoided death no less than 10 times this week!”

~ Stanford, writing down in his journal about the encounter

“I never liked dogs, I almost got bit a few times by them while growing up. Ironic considering some of my friends can turn into dogs. But demon dogs that can cause people to burst into flames? Hell no! Just avoid the jaws and shoot them with water from afar; ice will only melt if they make contact with their flesh.”

~ Cross, also writing down in her own journal about said encounter

“UGH! Foul beasts, almost got bit by one of them! I bet this was Eddy’s doing no doubt. Glad mother and father never owned any dogs.”

~ Winnie, whose still getting the dirt and dog hair out of her hair

“PET TEH DOG!! PET TEH DOG!! HAHA!!”

~ Ed, while trying to pet one of the bloodhounds as the others drag him away

Adventure Plots:
Camp Frights: During a camping trip inside Gravity Falls's forest, reports of large black dogs terrorizing campers and tourists started popping. The Mystery Kids were unaware of the reports until late one night when they got the sense that something was watching them from within the woods before the a-for-mentioned large dog-beasts broke into camp and started destroying the place.

This is a revamp of the first Hellhound drawing I did which, frankly, looked too bland looking so I updated it to be more distinct looking

It is also an introduction to the second edition of the monster bestiary I've been doing with improved designs and a more complete guide to the different monsters

Oh, Happy Halloween people
