DD ? Oh My GodFirstly, Thank you A looooooooot SoulFighty for suggesting my first DD
and Thank you pica-ae for featuring my first DD ...
Secondly, Wooooooooooooooow ... I really did not expect this much of disagreements, it is really surprising
anyway, I don't know how should I start but,
the idea of the design is very simple
Imagination .. is .. not .. supposed .. to .. be .. shown ..
I'm not being sarcastic or anything. in fact I'm being serious and I do know the full meaning of what I'm saying.
basically, imagination is supposed to be imagined is meant to be imagined NOT to be shown ... that's why it is called IMAGINATION...
The idea basically started after I realised that most people think that any piece of art must be based on imagination ... imagination is a small job that the brain can do .. but it is not everything the brain does ... I agree art is mostly based on the brain of the artist ... that's why I did not say "art is not supposed to be shown" ..
however, most of what you see now a days in movies, video clips, designs, even advertisements is fully based on imagination ... so what I'm trying to say to all of them is "STOP ... stop showing me my imagination and let me imagine it" .. my brain has the right to feel that it's useful .. but by showing me something that needs to be imagined you are KILLING my brain and asks it to stop working cos what you are sowing me is already doing the job for it ...
not every piece of art is based on imagination .. and imagination is not your only way of being an artiest .. I know it is one of the ways but NOT THE ONLY .. you are an artist because of whatever you do, whatever you say, whatever you think about, not because you have the ability to show us what is in your mind ...
a real piece of art makes your brain work, think, improve ..
a real piece of art doesn't stop your brain from working or makes you just say " ummm, That looks nice!"
the real artist does not express him/her self ONLY on a "piece" of art .. Art to real artists is a life style, is a way of thinking, is everything .........
I hope that explain some of the meaning ..

the first thing that really hits is the colors. they twist and twine together beautifully, and the different widths and patterns of the lines doesn't make the piece seem overcrowded.
of course, there is the main focus, the huge bold print in the middle. i read that and suspected that there was more to it. it's ironic, which makes it that much more interesting. i just had to look further.
which led to me searching out all of the tiny fine print scattered across the typography. i love that it's subtle enough to be ignored, but then, so very fun to find.
just one little critique: with all of the colors present it would have been nice to have a little orange. but that's just me.
i suppose this is asking for a bit much, but it would have been interesting if you'd made all of the lines from the quotes. maybe that's overdone or would take away from the overall emphasis it. i don't know.

Three words, I love it. I how all the different colours and shapes. You have clearly thought a lot about how to put different colours together to make the rest of the art work blend together more.
my favourite 'colour pairing' is that on the word 'shown'. I just really like how simple this is, but the message and the way you have done it makes is so interesting and inspiring to people who look at it.
I like your style of work and I wish you all the best in the future. It's fantastic how you have such an individual style on how you present your art.

Sorry to rant on but I still thought about one thing. It shouldn't matter where you start with your imagination. Lets say you are a blank canvas, you have never heard of dragons, for instance. You make one up yourself. But if you know the consept of a fire breathing lizard and you have formed a picture of it in your head based on some one else's pre-thinking, that doesnt make you unimaginative. That just gives you a new starting point. How about a dragon with umbrella wings? Or maybe he can't breath fire but something else. There is no upper limit to imagination.

I think that it's ok to show others what you imagine through your art. We are so different people that we would never dream up exactly the same things or use our imagination in the same way. And it also pushes us to be imaginative in a individual way, it drives us to keep thinking about new ideas. If you can see what others can do, maybe you can let yourself permission to dream such things yourself, like: hey, he has thought about this this way! There would be no art without interaction or it would be really bland.
But it is wonderful that you have such an clear oppinion. Its so rare that people actually think about these things nowadays. And you are right, we should use our own heads, not let everybody else do the thinking for us.

I couldn't agree more. I wish I could create something that does that. The best computer games (SimCity, Trackmania, the upcoming Theme Park Studio) are the games where you can create your own living, breathing worlds. Sadly, they're the games that tend to get ignored.

The drawing's really colourful and it did make me think (without reading the artists comments which is a plus for me) and I found it inspiring. Imagination can't be drawn down or spoken aloud, we simple don't have the vocabulary to do that and since we experience it in different ways there isn't a definate word to describe it. Or picture.

Thank you for your expalination.... I think that the "magic" of real masterpieces is exactly what you say here: suggesting more than showing, stimulating the imagination of the single viewer.
As for dreams, I think that imagination dispels very quickly when it is shown.

the 'infinite inside' has to balance the 'infinite outside'
the way it does this is to 'produce and PUBLISH (GLOBALLY) art, music, prose etc from the imagination

I really like the colours you used and the concept is brilliant. I agree with what you said in your description - I'd rather use my imagination than have someone show me what it's supposed to look like, or show me what theirs looks like...like it's nice to see how someone else sees something but once you've seen it that way, you can't really imagine it another way (if that makes sense XD)
Anyway, I love this piece and I believe you definitely deserve the DD
