I will second this. If my characters were real, then I think and hope that they would be the ones I could cry to, the ones i could laugh with... I think that I need to stop blubbering now...

I dunno... I kinda disagree. I think a majority of my characters either wouldn't get along with me (ego complexes, personality clashes, species clashes... XD) and the few that would, would I be close with them? I kinda doubt it. o_o

This is why my characters are usually based on my friends. I do hang out with them and truth is always stranger than fiction.

I know exactly how you feel. But it feels like mine always are there for me... I can never have a lonely moment when I have them, because they can always be there to be written in a new situation, or a new adventure.
Mine truly do have a life of their own - and I am proud of it. I crafted them lovingly from words when it felt I had nothing else, and they were the only things I would trust with my true feelings. I am eternally grateful to them for that.

However, just writing about my characters is enough for me. Most of them are far too unpleasant for me to want to hang out with in real life.

I went through about a year of living almost solely in my books. I wrote two novels and started countless ones I never finished during that time. Man, I totally lost track of reality.
Talk about awkward teenage years.

I'd be so happy if I was surrounded by my own characters.. and even though some of them are the kinds of people I simply don't like, sometimes I prefer to spend my days with the little voices, the characters in my head.
mainly because I know they will always be there, that they will never turn their backs on me. Unlike real humans

I would like my characters to be real, except for the fact that most of them like to blow things up, like houses and schools. They also offer terrible advice to even themselves.

I agree too. And, I'm always talking to them, whenever I'm alone basically. Sometimes, I even wish that I was the one who lived in their world, so that I could get out of this one

I am glad theyre not real, for that very reason. They are always here when I need them and I can get lost in my own head for a couple hours while writing them just when I need them most... its a pretty good deal in my opinion.
