Description Happy New Year! To start 2021, today I bring an updated version of my 6-year old Pelecanimimus restoration, which is uploaded to Wikipedia (upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia… )

Pelecanimimus polyodon was a primitive ornithomimosaur that lived in what today is Spain in the Early Cretaceous, around 130 million years ago. Its remains were discovered at Las Hoyas, a fossil locality in the La Huérguina Formation in the province of Cuenca (central Spain). During the Early Cretaceous, the area was covered by a shallow freshwater lake with tropical/subtropical climate

Unlike its relatives, which are toothless, Pelecanimimus had multiple teeth. A throat pouch, as well as a keratin crest at the top of the head, were preserved in the fossil. When first described, a series of filaments along the neck and arm were suspected to be feathers, although some time later they were considered as muscle fibers instead
