----------

As usual, I used both Painter and Photoshop for this, bouncing back and forth between the two.

1. Flats and Skin Shading

  • Flats done in Photoshop.
  • Lots of indecisiveness caused this part to take longer than it should have, but no big deal.

2. Hair Shading
  • Blonde is still a little tricky for me, but I feel I'm getting better at it and hair in general.
  • So much hair!

3. Finish General Coloring.
  • The rest was pretty simple.
  • The white took me longer than the rest because I wasn't sure how I wanted the material to look; obviously i went with super white and shiny.  I felt that would help bring out the background the way I wanted it to.

4. Background Work
  • Inspired by the first half of this clip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qImUih…
  • Moon:
    • I could have used a stock image of the moon, but that wouldn't have been fun.
    • It wasn't as tedious as I thought it would be, since Sailor Moon would be covering up most of it.
    • Did basic values in Painter and the rest in Photoshop, including textures, some warping, and overlay/color layers.
  • Laces:
    • I hadn't done laces since Weiss .
    • I did a google image search on "wedding laces" to avoid getting shoe laces as part of the search results.
    • The design was simple, and I kept in mind that I did not need to spend too much time on getting it "perfect", since I would be blurring them and adding some opacity.

5. Post Work

  • Add some overlays, color tweaks, and some filters/effects to the background.
  • Add some secondary lighting and filters/effects on the character based on finished background.
