The colors in this piece was what drew me to it first, and my impressions of the subject matter held me. Very impressive, very primal.

There is a legend, or a story, or myth, doesn't really matter, that Eve was not the first woman in the Garden. There was another before her, and if I have the story straight (once again, doesn't matter) her name was Lilith.
I see the the depth of man's mind - the woman, the bloodless temptress, Lilith, sitting in the cavern of man's hidden delights; the hidden delights that are buried away from God. The representations-the animalism- do not speak to me of creationism, but of hedonism. And the temptation is invitation.
Of course, it could be something else entirely.

ok...I have said I dont think alot when I do a painitng...but I often do have a sense of what I'm expressing.
I would have to say your comment comes closest to that sense, in this case...very close.
Thanks for the comment and thoughts.

I have always wondered about religious and philosophical positions, that you go deeper to ferret tthe truth out. [I am not saying you mean the sentence that way, but I read it that way]
To me truth has always been very unstable, comes in a flash and is an experience that really is a one-off thing. Not something I can hold onto. And it has seldom anything to do with conscious effort from my side to go deeper. It comes on its own.All I can do is be receptive all the time, so that in my stereotypical thinking I do not miss it.
I really do not know if the given definitions help anyway - I mean the identification of deep=true, deeply felt=real, and the likes.
Only criterion, if any, according to me, is, if it makes you feel see things clear, like never before, a transformative experience [ as against a mere transforming one] then it may be truth for you.
Suffering may not have much to do with it, unlike the held christian belief.

great piece of art. The semi-transparent glass-like background gives good glossy recessive two-dimensionality to the girl even as making the serpent , the fish and the apple come to the fore. The running wound on the girl's forehead makes me feel sorry for her. So forlorn she looks, with HER only fault being to succumb to a temptation, perhaps.
a powerful depiction of some turmoil
As to the text, may be I'll write later,I have problem with
our delving deeper into an aspect
AND
[just because we are doing so]
ascribing that aspect as our true nature
- I donot know anyone WITHOUT fever, girls or boys, who paint, really.

Perhaps a soft spot for wounded girls in general?
And the text is supposition...a "what if"
When I say deeper, I dont mean as in delving, I mean as in digging yourself into a hole, you cant escape.
Thank you as always for th time you take with looking and thinking and writing.

Yeah, might not get me into trouble, but it may end in me having too far to go back without harm to another.
