I think the pieces that take time and challenge us help us grow the most and help us get better. I'm sure when it's finished it will be amazing.

Her left side (our right) is a bit off, I think. The eyebrow is diferent and her chin, under the finger area, is also a bit warped.
Nothing you can't fix.

yep. that's is or was it. I worked on her chin line a bit, and will post the progress soon.

continue!
Often the ones I am absolutely unsure and think I ruined it, turn out one of the best...

because your asking, i think right now it doesn't look symmetrical enough for the near straight on angle she is facing. there are 2 different angels that the jaw line/ cheek lines are going. you could probably fix it but it might be just as easy to start again.

DiRi In reply to xedgerx [2012-01-14 09:28:23 +0000 UTC]

yeah thanks, the cheek bothered me too, and I worked on it a bit more, let's see what it was worth

Not to say she isn't lovely, but I'm going to go with Move on. It's difficult to feel stuck on a drawing that you have in question. If you're seeking approval then there's something about it that just doesn't settle well. Give it some time. Put it away and move to the next project. Perhaps you'll pick it up later.

that's a good tip, thanks.

Looks fine to me, it's kinda hard to say without seeing the original reference photo...

But I agree with Nicole, if you're happy with it, keep going. If not try again

DiRi In reply to kedishiarts [2012-01-14 09:29:47 +0000 UTC]

that is the problem, I am pretty happy with her eyes, but not with the rest Well, I worked a bit on her cheek, and today I'll do some hair, let's see how that works

kedishiarts In reply to DiRi [2012-01-14 22:04:25 +0000 UTC]

Hmm.. I've been in that situation before.
Maybe it'll look better once you've added the hair

Since you asked- it looks as if the left (her right) eye might be a bit far over. Try looking at the drawing in a mirror, I think that would help. But honestly, if you hadn't said you were unsure about this drawing, I wouldn't have thought anything was wrong with it. I say keep going!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DiRi In reply to xoruhtra [2012-01-14 09:30:54 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I'll keep on going. I worked a bit on her left eye, my girlfriend told me the same, straightened out her cheek, and I will go on...

Perhaps the right jaw line is not quite tapered enough, but I certainly think that you can salvage this drawing. Love the eyes.

All I would do to this is -bring in- the lower left side of her jaw and maybe reshape the cheek on the left......Man, This sort of thing happens to ME all the time. Many drawings I have abandoned when all it needed was a simple revision.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DiRi In reply to pat-mcmichael [2012-01-14 09:32:18 +0000 UTC]

thanks Pat. I did work on her cheek a bit, and now it seems better... and maybe after I have drawn some hair and surroundings it will even look better

NicoleBrune [2012-01-13 17:54:21 +0000 UTC]

I think its an interesting face..... a bit darker with less tonal range then you usually do. The question is do you like it? If you do, then i say keep going. If you aren't happy, then start over. worked for me

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DiRi In reply to NicoleBrune [2012-01-14 09:33:25 +0000 UTC]

is it really darker? Tanja said the same, but I think it's about the same as my others...

Well, I worked some more on her cheek and her eyes, and I will go on. Problem is/was that I was very happy about her eyes, but am/was unsure about her cheek and nose
