Description
The vortex of destruction disappears after Leopold is swallowed in with Blackheart. Shield Wing confronts Rainbow Sparkle after to explain what’s going on having saw her transform into a rainbow angel. After some hesitancy, she tells him about the Crystal Heart and that if the alicorns manage to steal it, then earth and rainbow world will be taken over. She then laments about what transpired with Leopold. As Shield Wing goes to comfort her, Opaline Arcana watches him in her orb and calls out to the alicorn Katchai. She explains that Shield Wing is a descendant of the powerful Dark Rainbow tribe and commands her to awaken his black heart.

Calina is seen at school talking to Rainbow Sparkle about her revealing everything to Shield Wing. They then see Lily walking and go to talk her, but she runs away wanting to be alone. She grieves the loss of Leopold and goes to his house. She walks into the abandoned household and heads upstairs. As she opens the door to his room, she is shocked to find Leo on the floor. She runs up to him and calls for him to wake up. He soon awakens and is greeted by Lily now relived. Confused, he questions Lily who Leopold is after she refers to him that way and why she’s in his house.

As Leo is seen sleeping in bed, the girls then enter the house and into the room hearing the news of Leopold. Lily then quickly tells the girls he’s not himself and that Leo has lost his memories of being Leopold. Flurry Heart then appears before the girls and explains that she was barely able to save him before he was consumed by the vortex of destruction. Because she was unable to protect him from the vortex’s evil waves, Leopold lost his memory and only has the memories of Leo. She reassures the girls that she believes Leopold will one day return back to them and for all four rainbow angels to work together before disappearing. Lily then looks at Leo and believes they can bring back Leopold with their united hope and love.

Shield Wing is seen in a park questioning what he should do after what Rainbow Sparkle told him. Katchai then appears and spreads his evil wave into Shield Wing. He then turns into Rainbow Shield, but shortly turns back to normal. Katchai then disappears as Opaline Arcana watches him, stating Shield Wing’s alicorn DNA has not completely woken yet. Suddenly under her cloak reveals a monster tree overwhelming her. She reinstates her goal in destroying anyone in love her and soon her evil energy emerges.

As Shield Wing starts questions what had just happened to his body, Rainbow Sparkle appears and tells him the good news about Leo. Shield Wing then asks her if she will tell him if she’s in trouble, not wanting her to keep secrets no more. She then gets off the swing set she was on and looks at Shield Wing. Opaline interrupts the pair and consumes them in her evil energy.

With Shield Wing in a trance and Rainbow Sparkle watching, Opaline Arcana tells a story from a long time ago about how she found a road that connected the rainbow and alicorn world together. She disguised herself as a alicorn and wandered into the rainbow world’s forest where she found the Angel Artimis sitting alone. Feeling a swelling in her heart for the first time, Opaline went to approach the angel, but was interrupted when the Angel Luna went up to him and kissed him, making the alicorn distraught. Opaline then states she was banished from the rainbow world without mercy from the Crystal Heart. Rainbow Sparkle questions Opaline’s story and compares it to how Flurry Heart described the same tale previously, believing the angels wouldn’t have expelled her. Opaline then spreads more of her negative energy, consuming Rainbow Sparkle once more. She is then back at the park alone and calls out to Shield Wing, who is now missing.

Opaline continues to talk to Shield Wing and shows him the monster tree trapped under her body, claiming it to be the work of the angels. She tells him of his true identity as Rainbow Shield and tells him to fulfill his alicorn mission of terminating anyone in hope and love. She then disappears as Shield Wing is seen in a forest. Katchai appears once again and continues to inject negative energy to awaken Rainbow Shield. Just then Angel Heart appears and fights the alicorn with her sword and shield.

Rainbow Sparkle frantically tells the girls about Shield Wing disappearing and not being able to find him. Misty Brightdawn then appears and tells the girls of a alicorn wave in the nearby forest. The girls make it to the alicorn as Heart continues to fight the alicorn. She uses Heart Strike, but is countered by the alicorn’s attack and causes her to fall back. Now in their wedding dresses, the angels stop Katchai before he can defeat Heart and transform into hero modes.

As Rainbow uses “Operation: Reform” on Katchai, the angels are interrupted by a explosion revealing it to be Rainbow Shield. The alicorn introduces himself and tries to attack the angels. Hope and Creative use Blue Stardust and Purple Dreaming, but are easily cut by the alicorn's strong power. He then strikes the two angels and goes to approach Rainbow to attack her. She absorbs his attack with the Red Crystal and turns it into a hope and love. The two attacks clash with each other and leads to a explosion. Rainbow Shield is then gone as Rainbow is seen nearly passed out by the enormous energy wave. They go to check on her as Heart keeps note of the alicorn.

Katchai apologizes to Opaline Arcana about his shortcoming to defeat the rainbow angels. The queen of the alicorns tells her to keep up her determination and affirms they have now started to grow the hatred and fear planted inside Shield Wing’s body. She then commands Katchai to continue injecting evil energy into Shield Wing to awaken him as a completed alicorn.

All of the girls go to search for Shield Wing in the forest and stumble upon him unconscious shortly after. Rainbow Sparkle rushes up to him and wakes him up. She then scolds him for letting them worry. As everyone looks on at the couple, Lily expresses her concern and worries something bad might happen to the pair. Rainbow Sparkle and Shield Wing are then seen embracing each other.
