And all he ever wanted was to eat his treats in peace. Bet Flash wasn't expecting that. This was a simple one, until I made it complicated (controversial?), but I think I made the... whatever you call the fadey, illusiony thing... well. I was trying not to ever put them together like this, but I guessed, to hoof with it.

I suppose some people could see it that way given how popular that implication or connotation is in the fandom.
But wing flares in the show are usually a simple extension of shock/surprise expressions when they aren't being used for simple emphasis.
