Oil on Canvas. 11"x14"Done as a "study" for Saint N0.40. It is a completed work and should not be judged as a "first attempt"... Think of it as a an "also-attempt" (oh yeah... nice and awkward).
More than Saint No.40, this painting is a dead-on likeness of the sitter. I found her (Danielle) with my bogus MySpace profile. And if you never saw my "Anne" profile, trust me here, it's about as inviting as a room full of scorpions that shoot fire. Danielle, being super cool, not only got the joke, but enjoyed the joke. Sadly, she has dropped from MySpace just recently, and I never got to tell her that I have completed her portrait. So if everybody who is not Danielle could turn their head for a moment, I would like to give a private message to my sitter: "Danielle, I finished your portrait."... Okay everybody can turn back around now.

seriously dead on and something called tenebrism which im going to wiki after this because someone used it below and i think they know what their talking about either way its good art that can have big words applied to it so you must be doing something right

Of all the paintings in your gallery I love this one the most.There's something about it that's striking. Her expression looks so heartbroken, like she's on the verge of tears.When I first saw it I spent a good ten minuets staring at it.

This is absolutely unbelievable. Oil pastel artists on deviantart are rarely tackling realism. I think this is a perfect ideal of something that is becoming slowly lost in art as people feel that it is too little to reproduce just what's happening in a moment.
Might be too personal a painting, or weird because you cannot find the subject any more, but I would love to have this as a print.
