Description I've been laying on the couch most of the day feeling like crap, but decided to check and respond to my messages.

This is *AbramWinterSmith's character Vynson, in his story The Fantiss Call [link] This story has quite an interesting story line! I haven't gotten that far into the story yet but so far I have been introduced to this character and the fascinating world that he lives in. This story is very interesting and well written so if you have the time you should read it.

This was not a piece that had hours and hours invested as I really just wanted to sketch this guy out he seemed so interesting. It's more of a test piece. I tried to follow the description as best I could on his looks... I hope I didn't go wayy off here.

I still can't quite get over the look of a dragon in a shirt... Obviously he's anthro, but still. XD

Other than that detail, this really looks amazing!

Consider it his "Peaceful Form".

When he needs to break out the big guns, then clothes are not necessary.

They'd probably get in the way anyways. XD

He's always anthro, though?

At first...then he learns how to call upon his full draconic powers.

After that, he can pretty much switch between his anthro form and full form...both are necessary in the roles he plays in the world.

For the basic day-to-day stuff Vynson is in his anthro form, it's easier for him to deal with non-draconics that way....for when things turn really ugle, he uses his full form...

Heh, well that makes sense. Though what does switching involve, other than dropping to all fours?

Personally, I've always been a fan of quadruped dragons rather than anthro... So good to hear that he has part of the former in him.

Well, he wouldn't be a true dragon if he couldn't take the "Classic Form", right? ^_~

His first change to a True Dragon doesn't occur for another couple of episodes, he needs to learn how to pull that trick off yet.

Follow Ms. Cid's link over to Fantiss Call, though, and you'll be able to follow along with Vynson's evolution. He IS pretty new at the whole Being a Dragon thing, after all. XD

Hmm... Family trip = no internet. XD I've read the first part (1-3, I guess), and it's a good start. I'll probably read more when I find the free time.

Well, reading is a good thing to do with free time...as for me, I'm just going to keep on writing them...working on 161 right now.

Nice. XD How long have you been writing these for?

I started in December 2007 with the goal of writing one segment a day for 500 days...then my work situation got really weird and I had to get new training (I was retained by my company the day of some major layoffs).

I lost track of the stories for a while, and I've just recently begun picking it back up. I've done about 12,000 words over the last six days, and am still plugging away.

If the first series of Fantiss Call takes off, I will more certainly work on another series in that world. It's been fun so far developing the characters and making the settings and forming the rivalries; not just "Good vs. Evil" but also friendly competition and certain characters who simply annoy the heck out of each other.

It's been a pretty rewarding process so far, and if the series inspires others then I would say it would be a successful piece.

Dang, that's a lot of writing. XD I have a story I've been working on, but I don't know that I could ever hammer out that much on such a regular basis. XD

The 500-words-a-day goal you set must have been hard to maintain, though I'm sure it would have helped you a great deal. I've meant to try something along those lines with drawing, but I'm waaay too slow to get one picture done a day. -_-

It takes practice, some degree of free time, and a bit of discipline. But at the same time it also takes a bit of self-acceptance in the fact that on some days, you might not be able to get 500 words done...in that case, I try to make up for it by doing 1,000 words the next day, or somehow try to average it out to the 500.

Drawing well takes time, and it's perfectly understandable to take some extra days to get an illustration done. With practice, you'll get quicker no doubt.

Heck, if you get inspired by the stuff I'm doing, feel free to use some of the storywork scenes I've done as practice.

**Checks his "King of Curses" stuff** Man, I need to put some more of these up sooner or later...the Kappa Soles are getting lonely there. Should also start posting "This Is Too Crazy To Be Fantasy!", which is all true events that have happened in my life.

Need to figure out what days to update Fantiss Call, though...no one's voted as of yet...blech...

Free time... I have lots of that, I just always spend it doing other stuff. :/ It'd be easier if my family wasn't around all the time... I'd much rather write/draw without people watching over my shoulder.

I'm trying to practice. I'm still very very slow though. XD

A poll, hmm? *goes to vote* Why not.

Sounds like you're working on lots of things at once. I can't do that... I'd much rather finish things before moving on to something new.

I like to have a number of projects going; I can switch between them if one becomes stuck or a little stale...then I can come back to it. ^_^

Zeimyth In reply to AbramWinterSmith [2009-07-04 23:38:09 +0000 UTC]

Yeah... I'm kind of doing that with drawing and writing. I'll draw some, then I'll write a chapter, then I'll draw some more... I think I really need to sit down and think about my story before I write much more, though.

Just a thought: do a little bit throughout the day until you've got a couple of pages.

It's how my 1,000 Word One-Shots were spawned...a couple of those are up on my corner of DeviantArt now.

You know what's sad? I still haven't written anything since my last comment. XD I've drawn a little... But not much. Ugh, I need someone to shackle me to my computer and not let me get up until I actually do something. XD

I'm not very good at that normally, with writing. I RP a ton, but my favorite RPs are very spontatneous - the kind where both participants create the world as they go. You can't really plan those.

**Chuckle** Well, I hope you get to know him a bit better, his story unfolds on my little plot of DeviantArt Land.

But you're right; Cid did make him a bit cute. Still love the frosty puff of breath...which is pretty much how I pictured him.

You know, he'll be great for those hot Arizona Summers...being a walking drink cooler and all that...

Whoa, that's an awesome dragon you've got there! The blue really catches my eye ^^

Even pieces you don't invest hours on seem to come out really nice. Nice touch with the frosty breath, too!

AbramWinterSmith [2009-06-30 00:25:49 +0000 UTC]

Wow...I didn't expect that you get something like this done so quickly! :-D I just directed you to the description, what, earlier today?

I'm really diggin' the frost breath coming out of his mouth as he breathes casually...that's a detail I would have put into the work had I still been illustrating. The eyes are pretty dead-on; you included that slight tinge of blue that I described, and you got a grin in there, which is impressive. I think you nailed Mr. Clark almost completely spot-on.

If this is your first attempt, I can't wait to see what constitutes a "Non-Test" piece.

This is going in my faves automatically...and I'm relieved and very overjoyed that my writing has had this effect...it's the first time in years that this has happened. So thank you, for helping me fuel my creative fire...I shall keep up more diligently with Fantiss Call from this point on....**Looks into his old notebook and grins** If they read it, it will come...as I think the saying goes.

Again, THANK YOU for inspiring me and giving me the honor to inspire you.

Brother Abram
