Off topic, but there was once a proposed idea [by fans] to port the (then recently re-discovered) EBZero prototype ROM over to the game boy color in the late 90's-to-Early 2000's. Unfortunately, the request fell on deaf ears...

I agree with you, except for ONE thing: my memory's fuzzy on the details, but I do know the proposed "Mother GBC" game was petitioned to Nintendo for a stateside commercial release. It was meant to be similar (in porting style) to SMBDX... (Sorry if I didn't make that clear before.) All I know is that a title screen mock-up was made.

Yeah, it would be an incredibly difficult project. You wouldn't be able to just "port" the game over to the GBC. You'd have to rewrite all of the game's coding from scratch and redraw all of the graphics to accommodate the smaller screen. Such a project would take several months and would likely fail since it would have to be a nonprofit project.

My biggest problem with Mother is that it never explains what the heck your grandpa was trying to do. As far as I saw, pretty much the whole situation was entirely his fault.

Hmmm...and maybe for a direct sequel, that could be explained a bit more? Like, your Grandpa left behind a diary in the first game, but maybe Ninten got around to actually reading it between the first and second games?
