Description NOT FOR SALE. This guy was made as a birthday gift for my husband Matty. I've been selling my dragons for over 4 years now, but this is the first time I've made him a dragon. So it had to be awesome! This project kind of monopolized all my sculpting time the last couple of weeks

I wanted him to be a firey dragon but not too crazy firey. I tried putting a little yellow in there and hated it. Just didn't feel right for Matty. Instead I let the yellow be in the D20 he holds, and just put some really bright orange at the highest point of the mohawk and tip of the tail. There are about 7 colors in his mane. I made about three sets of wings before I was happy with the shape, size, and color gradient. Soooo much time went into this guy, it's ridiculous.

Made entirely from colored premo sculpey, no paint (except pupils of the eye)

They're several methods I know of. One if using a pasta roller, or rolling the colors together with your rolling pin. Or you can smooth the colors together with your hands. But you could also just paint it on.

Do you have a tutorial on how you do the inner wire/foil core? I've started making a few things here and there, but I can't seem to ever make a good frame -_-

I viewed your questions page and didn't see this asked.

Your sculptures are so beautifully made simply fabulous!
Would I however also like knowing how you downwind the spikes? Normal or with glue?

How do you get wings like that to stay up? Everytime I try something like that with big wings they always fall over or smear down and ruin the sculpture . I usually use wire but it doesn't work out well for bigger wings.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

PclayDragon In reply to CrystalWolf57 [2015-06-14 03:17:06 +0000 UTC]

You can try to bake the wings separately first for less then 5 minutes then put them on the body.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

DragonsAndBeasties In reply to CrystalWolf57 [2014-12-02 23:15:38 +0000 UTC]

The wire should hold (thats what I use) maybe you're not putting enough in? you might also want to give them some support when baking
