The end of the trail leads to a small ledge overlooking the tops of the jagged spears rising up out of the mountainside. The fog had cleared some, allowing him to see the tops of the trees down at the base of the mountain, a sea of white and bare branches amidst the frozen Winterland.
Now that he's lower the wind isn't as strong, allowing him to catch his breath and have a bit of a breather. Lords knows he needs it after that near-death experience on the trail.
He can feel the ache in his muscles, dulled by the coldness of his body. He isn't used to climbing through such extreme terrain, more used to the soft ground of wide open plains or the mulch covering the ground of a forest. Not icy cold rocks with pebbles stabbing into the soles of his hooves every few feet.
Despite all this, Lux couldn't feel more at home. He takes in a deep breath of the fresh, mountain air, feeling it fill his lungs and sweep through his bloodstream. He feels free, he feels alive. He can do anything he wants, and there's no one around to stop him. He's his own horse, and he couldn't be happier.
