Lead Stallion: Lux
Lux has to focus on his footing as he carefully climbs down one of the steep game trails on the side of the mountain. The legs of his muscles strain as he tries his best to keep from sliding against the icy rocks, the harsh wind crashing against his body, stinging his eyes, and angrily tugging his hair in every direction.
He narrows his eyes and grits his teeth, squinting to try and see further down the trail. The fog from the low-hanging clouds makes it rather difficult, and he can smell a storm on the horizon. Great. The one thing Lux hates more than another bachelor stallion is storms. They are such a waste of good time he could be spending out exploring and traveling. He hates having to stay and sit, waiting for the storm to die down before finally being able to move again.
The stallion huffs with frustration, the aching of his muscles starting to get on his nerves. He lashes his tail as best he can with the wind, pinning his ears. He's come too far to turn around now, the best thing he can do is keep going forwards, and hope that he gets to the bottom of this trail before the storm hits.
Suddenly he's sent sliding forwards, his heart lurching in his chest as his breath catches at the back of his throat. He braces himself against the rocks, struggling to get his footing, struggling to keep from going over the edge. He sends smaller rocks falling over the edge, tumbling down the steep jagged edge of the mountain, the wind silencing the noise of rock hitting rock.
He can hear his heartbeat racing in his ears, the muscle beating harshly against his ribcage as he continues sliding. There's suddenly a sharp stop where the ice had tapered off, sending Lux lurching forwards right at the curve of the trail. He digs his hooves against the cold stone and leans as far back as he can, hoping that it will be enough to stop him from going right over the edge.
Wind whistles in his ears, or is that his own voice? He doesn't know as his body comes to an unsteady halt, the tips of his hooves hanging over the edge of the narrow rocky path. He stays there for a moment, breathing heavily as sweat collects on his coat. He feels lightheaded as adrenaline surges through his veins.
He struggles to steady himself as he slowly stands once more, taking a few steps back, the wind making it exceptionally difficult to try and get his breathing under control.
Eventually, he does manage to calm down after standing for a few moments, focusing solely on his breathing and lowering his heart rate. He glances behind him and the steep incline he had just slid down before looking ahead of himself, turning his head to follow the rest of the path as it curls around the corner he had almost completely flown right off of.
He lets out one last sigh before continuing forwards, now even warier of ice caked over the tops of the rocks he's traveling down. He definitely does NOT want that to happen a second time, because he might not be so lucky again.
