Over the years, I've kinda shifted the design to using simpler hydrolox engines and a lifting body, making it much more akin to NASA's Venture Star. The thing is, fusion engines are heavy, and if you have the materials' science to make them light enough to work as the powerplant for this craft, then you'd most certainly have the materials science to make a scramjet or hydrolox-chemical SSTO shuttle work well.

Interesting and exhausting. Are you space engineer?
I just liked the craft, looking as a good example how second generation of space shuttles should look, and wanted to know if it was intended as ground to orbit, or interpalnetar (to Mars, Moon) transport.

The idea looks viable, but the "mothership" would have to be extremely big and likely built in space

I heard that Hayao Myazaki started out drawing planes and stuff. This could be the start of something awesome!

Great scotts, you don't know who Myazaki is?? He's one of the greatest Japanese animators the world has to know. He's done movies like Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and so much more! I suggest that you look up his movies if these don't ring a bell.
